The Case for Banning Autovotes for a Brief Period
I love Hive and hope to see it thrive and there is a case to remove auto-votes on the platform. The people against this idea are the early adopters when setting up auto-voting was more popular and understood. Much time has passed and now I think auto-voting has transformed into something that takes away real engagement from the platform.
Hive is still in it's early phase I don't know the stats exactly but we have very few active users. But I clearly am frustrated as a long time Hive author and as you can see below I hardly get any support...
People Don't Read
The problem is people are not reading posts. Instead they are just looking for a bunch of pics with a high enough word count. I strive to write at least 500 words a day but it's difficult so that's why I like to journal some of my life.
Today I'm going to go to the beach with my son and I can't wait to see him.
What would it be like if we trialed banning auto voting for a month or two. What's the worst that could happen. A great reset is needed to entice more engagement. Engagement is key to Hive's success as new authors stand a better chance at receiving larger upvotes.
