Hello people!
Ready again to join this #POBphotocontest during this week, the photography contest, which is a nice initiative of @friendlymoose and this is really my 23th time!
This week the new round is about cold, and it is really a good timing topic as it seems this week is gonna be really cold here but in many places. Well, it's winter season so this is the normal weather that we can expect now, right? But there are places where the cold weather in winter is really intense! And my post is about it.
So here is my new contribution for the Proof of Brain photo contest:
Frozen Volga River, it's Cold!
It's cold here, yes, but the days are sunny and the sky is blue and compared to other places it is not so cold, there is no snow. But during my temporary stay in Russia I felt the cold, I was really cold, intensely.
And on a trip to the city of Yaroslavl I also experienced the cold because the Volga River that crosses through the city was completely frozen. What surprised me the most is that people keep living but differently on the river too...
People "surf" the river on the thick layer of ice and snow, it crunches when you step and it feels strange, but there they are, in a specialized boat-vehicle, others with ski poles and there were sitting and waiting on the ice to fish there!
I was able to get closer to check that everything is real. Those people made a hole in the ice until reach the cold water and in the end these men did catch a small fish (at least), so it seems that patience and waiting on the frozen river at below zero, feeling the cold or not feeling it anymore, works...
From a distance, the views of the immense river covered in ice and snow are impressive, it seems that everything is white and a bit grey. And it seems that there is nothing else. But when we turn back to the city, we see that life is also normal there, with beautiful buildings and their golden domes, and of course, a lot of snow, which coexists, with a lot of cold!
Keep warm and happy!
