Greetings, everyone
This is my entry to POB's contest organized by @friendlymoose. You can see the details here
This is Niñito (little kid), one of our pets. We took this picture during one of his staring contests. Who was he staring at? His nemesis: his own mother!
This is his mother, Delilah. @manujune's vicious cat. She is not a very sociable cat and she does not make exceptions. As a matter of fact, I think that the fact that he is her son, makes it even less tolerable for her.
He was suppsoed to have left, like all the other kittens. However, Niñito was some sort of runt. We all thought he'd die. He was the last one to be born; he was skinny and tiny. All the other kitties were beautiful, big, and strong. They were adopted inmediately. Nobody wanted him, so we kept him.
The more his mother looks at him, the more scared he gets. He is a quiet, docile, and sometimes clumsy cat. His mother ususally chases him around and beats the crap out of him.
Ironically, when Niñito is chased by other cats, Delilah runs to the rescue and fights the other cats. I do not think it is due to some maternal impulse that gets activated in extreme circumstances. I think that she is just sending a horrible message: "I am the only one who can and should beat him!"
Very rarely does he show this kind of face. He had enough that day and just decided to go away.
I can understand why his mother hates him. He is nice and avoids conflicts. He is lovable and usually looks like he needs extra affection. That means she gets less attention. Nothing more infuriating for a diva like Delilah
In the meantime, we try to take good care of Niñito. With relatives like his, he needs all the extra care he can get.
