The question says that he jumped from a 4-story building, it does not say that he jumped from the 4th floor, that is, he jumped from a window on the ground floor, which is low and no harm was done.

The answer to this riddle is enough to check the mind. The man jumped from the ground floor window as he was already on the ground floor so there was no height to fall and thus he was safe.

The answer is that the window must be the ground portion from which he jumped
