About a month ago I was lucky enough to turn 60. An age where a normal working person starts to think about his retirement.
I work in IT support. Not on the phone where you help people, our company has a help desk for that which our 8000 colleagues can call.
I sit at an ICT desk, where people can walk in with their problems, or they are forwarded to us if they were not helped on the phone.
And I really like this work, so I intended to keep it up for another 6 years. And that would be a pleasure, because I don't drive to work a single day against my will.
But two weeks ago, that plan suddenly changed. My retirement age is 66, but I can take early retirement from May 1, 2023. And that won't be long.
I then went to an information day where everything was explained, including the financial side, and that was so clarifying, so that I drove home with completely different plans.
In the evening I first called my wife @fiatgirl because she lives in Spain, and we discussed it. And we both agreed that I would finish less than 100 working days and then go on rest.
The next day I immediately filled in my application form and sent it to my boss. A few days later I had his permission, and I was able to send the form to the personnel department in our company.
Two days later I received the redeeming email. My application form was well received and approved, so I no longer have to drive to work from 1 May 2023.
It will bring real change, but it will also give me more time to share some more articles with you here! 😀
Thanks for reading, and have a nice day, and ... have a nice weekend everyone!
