I have been humiliated, rejected, and abandoned by the people I call family. Had it been that I have not struggled to change my situation, it would have been a different story but all my efforts seemed abortive. It is time for me to rewrite my destiny. I have to journey to the land of the gods and return a demi-god. All who have spit on me will bow at the mention of my name. They will feel my wrath. An eye for an eye it will be.
These were my words to John, the only person that never turned his back on me.
John: The journey you want to embark on is a dreadful one. Many have tried it but couldn't make it back. Stories have it that after Goldon, the god Slayer, the gods have made their land inaccessible to humans. How are you sure you will make it there? What gives you the strength and assurance that you will make it back alive?
I draw my strength from the tortures and humiliations I have suffered from society, my confidence comes from the fact that there will always be someone to change the flow of things, and we can never tell if we will be the one when we don't try.
Goldon was selfish to slay the god that gave him wealth because he wants no other human to access the wealth offered by the god. He closed the door for other people after him who may desire to go on such a journey, but I believe that since the enmity was created through one person, peace between humans and the gods will be restored through another. This is why I am taking this journey. Is either I succeed or I die trying, after all, of what good is life if only what it offers are pain and agony?
John: It's obvious you have made up your mind. I pray that the sun will guide you during the day and the moon will never depart from you in the night.
I set for the journey with only 7 kola nuts. Upon getting to the first of the seven rivers, I brought out the first kola and prayed thus, " To the unknown god that sustains all the aquatic animals that live in this water, the god that brings warmth to the surrounding land, I come in peace. It was my kind that destroyed the relationship between gods and man, and it is right that the relationship is restored by another. I present this kola, as a sign of peace-offering. Let that which happened in the past be erased and let a new relationship be established".
I repeated this ritual for the remaining six rivers.
In the end, I was able to fulfill my mission and then set back home.
I returned in a big way. The story of my return would have been a story that every generation will grow up with had it been that there wasn't any WAHALA in the end.
I also paid all those who treated me badly in their coins. I lived a life that was the envy of the whole town.
Then WAHALA started, but first from the land of the gods. Their tussle for supremacy caused war among them. Each of the gods appeared to me and demanded that I end whatever pact I made with the other gods and have only them to serve, lest I lose all they have given me. It would have been easier for me to end the agreement I had with the other six gods and stick with one but I was afraid that choosing to stick with one would draw the wrath of the other gods on me. In the end, I lost everything and I returned to a state worse than where I was before.
Writer's Note
In life, Wahala is inevitable. Don't feel that your present situation will be permanent. Always extend helping hands to people irrespective of how they have treated you in the past. Had it been that the character ignored what had happened in the past and helped people when he returned from the journey, he would certainly have help from people, when things turned around again.
