Proof of Brain Photography Contest ~ GREEN

in #hive-1503298 months ago

The theme of this week's POB photo challenge by @friendlymoose is GREEN. I had a photo to enter in last week's challenge, but never found the time to post it, so I'm entering this week's challenge ASAP! POB Photo challenge is a photo contest with a different theme each week. You can see the rules of the POB photo challenge HERE.

GREEN

Spring has arrived in Texas and the Hill Country is alive with colorful wildflowers, among them the State Flower of Texas, Lupinus texensis, the Bluebonnet. Everywhere we drive, we see batches of bluebonnets on the sides of the road, and on the pastures of local ranches. We even have a nice bunch of bluebonnets by the mailboxes for our housing area. What we hadn't found yet was a good area to photograph them safely (that is, without being hit by a car or shot as a trespasser). We tried going to nearby Canyon lake, where we found some flowers, which I may get around to posting another time, but no bluebonnets. The closest were Gay-Feathers.

We got lucky when our daughter called us from Johnson City where she had gone to scout eclipse viewing sites. She was purchasing tickets to attend the eclipse viewing at the Science Mill there, and happened to drive over to nearby LBJ State Park where, as luck would have it, there were bluebonnets aplenty.

We took her advice and drove there the following day, where we photographed flowers, and even some of the sights at the Historic Working Farm located at the State Park. Again, hopefully I get around to posting some of those images. While walking the nature trails at the park, I took the shot featured above, posted for your enjoyment and entered for the POB weekly theme of GREEN.

Nice! I love the bluebonnets down there in Texas. I haven't been down there in awhile. I used to spend a lot of time in San Antonio, I do miss my trips there. It's a great place!

I'm posting some pictures now...give me a few minutes...just about ready...https://ecency.com/hive-194913/@kunschj/bluebonnets-at-last
