Last weekend was my wifes birthday. I won't tell you how old she turned because that would be uncouth, but I can share a little about how we celebrated. Here we go, life update style.
Firstly on Friday we went to the "Sound of Music" musical in our home town. I wasn't big on the idea of going because I was never into the movie but I couldn't say "no" considering it was her birthday. In the end the show surprised me and I actually really enjoyed it - honestly. It was upbeat and the songs were really good and all in all I was glad I went. My wife obviously really enjoyed it also but that was to be expected.
On Sunday we went to brunch with a long standing friend of hers (my friend now as well) at an old mill that was converted into a nice restaurant.
It was quite a fancy brunch but it was busy enough that I couldn't take photos of the spread. I have some photos of the food nonetheless though. The drink above was a lavender concoction with orange garnish that she got last year. This year for the brunch they were serving Ceasars and mimosas with the as well.
As i aluded to above, her friend had brought us to the location the year before for her birthday as well, so it has almost become a birthday tradition for her, in a way.
We even sat in the exact same table both times. I think thats because its the best spot for the restaurant to put a 6 person table.
The weather was a bit sunnier last year so the photos are a little nicer.
You really can't beat the view of the river there.
Moving on. For a gift this year I got my wife a flower pot that she wanted. It's by a Danish artist that we like named Bjorn Wiinblad. He was big in the 70s I believe, but has since passed.
We still have to get a plant that suits it. For now the bananas are pretty funny.
I also got her the mug that I put on snaps previously. I made it online. It's a riff from the film "the Meg."
Funny enough I took a few photos of her birthday dinner last year and saved them until now. I didn't take any pictures of dinner this year. So here are a few photos of lasts years meal at a restaurant we went to.
She got the steak and I got the duck.
It was dark in the restaurant so the photo didn't turn out as crisp as I would have liked but there you have it.
Every year around this time my extended family (all my relatives) get together for Christmas. It's super early but it's easier to coordinate everyone's schedule by having it early in the season. The past couple of years it has fallen on my wifes birthday weekend which makes it hard to plan anything and this year things got a little scattered around. I can't speak for how happy she actually was but we made it work in the end.
