Finding Files on Open Directories: eBooks, Videos, Softwares, etc.
Hello everyone!
When I was trying to download some Youtube videos lately (which I already wrote a post about here on Hive), I've also found this very neat website called FilePursuit.
Simply put, FilePursuit is a creating list of files available on the internet (mostly from the open directories). You can search for almost any file on it or discover domains.
FilePursuit provides a search engine that only indexes files located on free-access websites, eg open directories that can be accessed by anyone on the internet.
They crawl the internet and indexes these files, allowing you to find these files and download directly from the original server these files are on.
Obviously, those files can just be removed from the website they're on and be unavailable when you try to download it. So FilePursuit already list the files sorted by the date it was crawled; so usually the first links are working.
For example, I wanted to download the classic Macroeconomics book written by Mankiw, and I was able to find several editions of it to download.
It also found some GOG versions of a really niche game called Tales of the Neon Sea. So I can say that the tool works incredibly well, even with less popular content.
Thanks for reading this post, and until next time!
