Going back to learning Spanish!

in #hive-1503293 years ago

Spanish was the 3rd language I learnt in life, and I have lived in Spain in total for 2 years. Well the point being actually that I never did fully learn it, because where I lived in Spain was all English speaking. It was enough just to learn many words and easy to talk in the present tense and I got by well.

Now that I am settling in México, I need to finish off learning spanish. One problem.. its not even Spanish because its been adapted so much by the Mexican people.

To be honest I am not sure how I have managed up til now without being interested and using gramatics. Today I took a dive into past tense (I have never been interested in grammar, the names of different things like verbs and nouns, and learn it last normally when I learn a new language. At school I found English classes boringand irrelivant.) Its time to progress with Spanish.

Spanish I find to be the hardest

Out of 5 languages I have l learnt on top of my mother tounge language english, it is the hardest for me. Maybe as I couldnt ever pick up French so well its related. This is the order of what languages I learnt.

  • Mandinka (a language from west Africa)
  • Thai
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Norwegien

Mandinka

Is an unwritten language originating in Mali. I was learning it in The Gambia. Simple words, no masiciline or femine, and very basic grammar. I learnt it quite fast, within 2 months I was speaking it well, and writing didnt exist!

Thai

This is a really hard language to learn because each word has 5 tones it can be said in, and each tone is a different word. So yes, one word has 5 meanings. Also there are if I remember right, 74 symbols as an alphabet. Within a month, I was speaking understandable thai, but making insulting mistakes due to the wrong tones. "Delicious" and the C word for vagina, are quite simular...

Even with all this, the gramatics was not as hard as spanish!

German

I started to learn german words in spain, lots of germand where i was and it was the second most spoke language with foreiners. I was dating a german woman at the time to.

German sounds well ugly and makes no sense to someone new to it. Once you get it though, it makes a lot of sense and is easy to get, and to work out what and object is by the name of it. Theres again no masc or fem, and just a past tense where you mostly add "Ge" and change the word a bit to make it past tense.

...Easier than Spanish!

Norwegien

Simple language, German roots so it was easy to learn after being in Germany.

Spanish is the hardest!

Once I have learnt the past tense in spanish them my spanish skills will be great. Dont feel bad if your struggling with Spanish, your not the only one!

Big love, @movingmam

I've been copying 5 of the tenses off of a French book on Spanish conjugations and it helped a lot with the past tense. I'm now following a YouTube channel called Spring Spanish that teaches you through a technique called chunking or learning foreign languages through word chunks. There are several fantastic Mexican teachers on the channel. Hope you and the dogs are doing well.

I forgot the woman on pootube who i was learning from, she is mex though which helps, or central american at least. Ive learnt the past tense for words endong in AR, IR and ER and then theres orher exeptoins too she says hahaha

I guess I will do a bit more soon! Get this language in the bag

Hot from the press lol😜 Empecemos!👏

hey my movingman,
if you are still on the hunt for good spanish skills, do an online search for

archive.org pimsleur

best language course ever, just have to dig in that folder for spanish (or latin spanish or whatever) and start with lesson 1 and see if it helps.

i guarantee it will

LOL , German has Norwegian roots ,.. or better Phoenician roots ( Finnish = Phoenician ) ,.. Yes Finnish witch is very similar to old Greek in a amazing way . Something to do with the old Tartarian empire ( before the last ice age some say ) that had it's capital city in Hell , or Helsinki surrounded by Whalhala ( tropical forest of plenty ) , a place called Odin's garden (Eden) and a region named Asgard , where the family trees grew that where used to bury the ashes of the death family members . The first king's of Sweden and Denmark where son's of the Finnish king , Swen and Den .

Not that i made any real progress in learning Norwegian , so many dialect's to confuse me , i can understand the headlines in their conversations a bit now , but have not a clue yet on how to speak it properly . Mainly because i don't have to , as all speak very well English around here .

I somehow picked up Greek a lot faster , as not all spoke English , and it is a language far from my origin of speak . Like in Norwegian i hear things that sound like Dutch but have a other or even opposite meaning , it's hard to make my brain stop hearing the Dutch when i hear some speaking Norwegian . Like some say , it's harder to adjust a bit then to start all over from scratch .

Success on your learning of Spanish ( Mexican ) , greets from Tjeland . ;-)

how did I miss this reply! man this is like a post in its own, so much knowledge there! Swe and Den is how the country was named? thats madness hahah
