We keep hearing these cases where we see that people from outside the family get into the house and take advantage of the situation. Specially with old people who are dependent on their family and have no children. In such cases there are many waiting to take advantage of the situation.
It happened with one of my hubby's uncle. He was very old and he passed away 2 months back. He always had trust issues with his family. He would feel that everyone was eyeing his wealth, but that was never the case. No one would even bother to ask him what he had and what he was going to do with his wealth after he was gone. He was 94 when he passed away. He was a single man and as such always very bonded with family other than money matters. He was very secretive about his financial affairs. He was a very rich man, but no one in the family would ever ask him anything since everyone respected him.
But at the same time he would occasionally mention to the family that after I am gone I have taken good care of the family so everyone should use the money wisely.
With this behavior of his one of his friend's son came into the picture and started taking advantage of him. He started getting close to our uncle and won his trust to an extent that our uncle would believe every word that he would say. This person played very tricky during the Covid times because he stayed just next door to him and all our uncle's relatives stayed in other cities, so no one was physically able to travel.
Now that uncle is gone we get to know that this person has done big time frauds with his wealth, his bank accounts and got everything transferred on his name. It is sad. It is just not about the wealth but seeing such type of crooks win in this world really makes me wonder where is goodness gone. Is there no place left for goodness in this world.
I feel sad for Uncle's other siblings who all are alive and very old. He was supporting them financially in many ways taking care of their medical needs but now that he is gone, they have stopped receiving all the help because this fraud person has taken over everything. My husband and his cousin has filed a case against him, but knowing how the system works in India in these legal matters it will take years to get any outcome, probably by that time this person would have already lived a gala life.
I wonder sometimes how can people eye on other's money and grab it so effortlessly. How can they be so cunning to cheat such old helpless people. What is this world upto. The best part is this fraud person shows to the world that he helps old people and does philanthropic work.....Ufff I cannot believe. I tell my husband that karma will get back to him, but some where deep in my heart I feel bad that so much wrong is happening and winning and goodness and righteousness is just no where to be in the picture. But one thing to learn is that when you do not trust your family there are many waiting to grab the opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Had he trusted his own family this situation would have not occurred.
Anyways it's going to be a long case and will drain out a lot of energy. I have decided to keep away from it as much as possible. Just hoping and praying that right things happen.
