Weekend event on Breast Cancer awareness and some Ladies fun

In muscat we have a group called Oman Social Lounge, it's a ladies exclusive group where regularly meet ups happen and we share ideas and have some fun. Again last 2 years no activity happened in the group due to covid. After a long time last weekend, we had an event which was themed on traditional dressing and we had a Doctor guest speaker who addressed the issue of breast cancer. There was a fashion show, some fun games followed with a sumptuous meal. I had gone with my ladies gang. We had to pay a nominal charge for the event, and it was worth every penny for the knowledge that was shared on Breast Cancer and all the other fun we had. The event was held in a Pakistani restaurant called Nawabs. The food here is very delicious and the ambiance is also very elegant. It was good that we had registered many days in advance as 2 days before the event they closed the registration. There was a space limitation so they had to cut off at 60 and many ladies could not attend.

It's always good to attend these types of events as I get to meet new people and also something or the other is there to learn here.

The Doctor gave a lot of information on Breast Cancer detection and self-care to prevent. She spoke about how to self-examine, what are the medical ways of examining and detection. Healthy lifestyle to be followed for prevention. Exercises that we should do for prevention. What are the things that one should avoid like avoid smoking, alcohol and hormonal medications. Effects of stress and obesity and how it can lead to Cancer. She was sharing some very valuable information. Truly in a long time I found a Doctor talking something of real value and benefit. I do plan to make a personal consultation with her for my checkup. I am nearing 50s, by the look of it I am completely healthy and have no issues, but there is no harm in getting a routine checkup done. On the 1st November there is a walkathon for Cancer awareness. Every year I join the event, this year too I shall be going.

After her session we had a quiz game and I won on one answer to which I got this prize :-)

All the ladies also received a gift hamper which had a variety of beauty products. I do not use any of those so I gave away the hamper to my cook. She was very happy as there were some Deo sprays, Henna cones and other beauty products.

There was a fashion show organized. Some of the ladies were gorgeously dressed and it was fun watching them walk the ramp and we were cheering them. After all the fun, we had a hearty meal. The event was planned from 1 to 4 p.m. but it stretched till 6 p.m. Everyone was enjoying and in high spirits.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Prevention must become part of our everyday life! Of our culture! In this context, as funny as it may sound to you, the preventive examination must also be done on older men or men with extra pounds! I learned this recently from my father who needed to be examined for this reason! It was something I was unaware of (unfortunately like many) that men are also vulnerable to breast cancer!

PS: In the photo, you shine!

You are right, even man can get that, though the % is very small. Everyone has to be careful with their health and get regular check ups done

Events like this are lovely and very impactful. It's really important to create awareness about breast cabcer

Thank you. Many females shy off to address this issue and hence such awareness programs are required.
