Lets Talk about Eid

Hi. The Muslim world observed Eid Al Fitr on the 10th of this month. This eid is celebrated at the end of Ramadan kareem. It is a holy month for Muslims in which we fast for almost 13-15 hours. There are multiple reasons behind fasting, but precisely it is to bring awareness about what poor people go through and also to bring a sense of value of food items and water.

The word Fitr itself here in our culture means charity. We do give charity as individuals to those from the lower class on the day of Eid. The day of Eid is itself a very special one. I am always excited about it. Yes, there is a sense of sadness because the month of fasting ends, but I feel so excited on the day. Different delicious dishes are prepared for the family and everyone is wearing new dresses.

You will find children roaming on the streets in new dresses of vibrant colors. It gives me a really positive vibe. The days are changing towards summer so I helped my family in kitchen too. The other members went for the mandatory Eid prayer in the mosque. It is indeed a festival of joy.

These are the moments that we should live to the fullest. Our everyday life should be this exciting always. We never know which day is our last. This is one little message that I am trying to share with everyone here. My message is to live life to the fullest today. Why waiting for an eid to make your day joyous? What do you think about it?

It really gives a sense of community and unity among people where everyone unites without discrimination of any sorts. People gather in mosques and in cafes, hotels and in other places of sight seeing. Sight seeing is very common here in our city on Eid day.
