Today I share with you a passage from the book of Proverbs where it highlights the importance of living with wisdom and purity of heart. It reminds us that the path of evil is dangerous and confusing, while following the wisdom of God brings clarity, life, and health. The invitation is to keep the heart vigilant, full of God's teachings, since our life depends on it. It is a call to integrity, reflection and continued devotion to divine principles.
The way of the wicked is like darkness; They don't know where they stumble. My son, pay attention to my words; Incline your ear to my reasons. Do not depart from your eyes; Keep them in the middle of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And medicine to their whole body. Above all things guarded, guard your heart; Because life flows from it.

"The path of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know where they stumble."
This verse begins by contrasting the path of the wicked (those who live without God's guidance and in wickedness) with that of the righteous. It describes the life of the wicked as a path in darkness, which is a powerful metaphor. Darkness symbolizes lack of knowledge, confusion and danger. When walking in the dark, a person cannot see where they are going or the obstacles in their path, so they continually stumble without knowing why. This suggests that those who live without God's wisdom and guidance are lost, living in ignorance and self-deception, suffering consequences they do not understand.
"My son, pay attention to my words; Incline your ear to my reasons."
Here, the voice of the wise man, often represented as a parent or teacher, addresses the reader with an urgent call to pay attention. "My son" indicates a relationship of care and love, underscoring the importance of the advice he follows. The instruction to "be attentive" and "incline your ear" implies active and receptive listening, not just superficial. The sage is asking that his teaching be taken seriously, prioritized, and diligently pursued.
"Do not depart from your eyes; Keep them in the middle of your heart;"
This verse emphasizes the need to keep wisdom constantly in the mind ("Do not depart from your eyes") and in the heart ("Keep them in the midst of your heart"). In Hebrew culture, the heart is seen not only as the seat of emotions, but also as the center of will and intellect. Keeping wisdom in the heart means integrating it deeply into one's life, to the point that it guides all decisions and actions.
"For they are life to those who find them, And medicine to their whole body."
Here the value and benefits of divine wisdom are highlighted. The teachings not only provide spiritual guidance, but are also a source of life and healing. "They Are Life" suggests that God's wisdom leads to a full, rich, and meaningful life. “Medicine to Your Whole Body” reinforces the idea that living according to God's wisdom has a positive effect not only on the spirit, but also on physical health and well-being. In the Bible, the health of the body is often related to righteousness and living in harmony with the will of God.
"Above all things guarded, guard your heart; For from it flows life."
This verse ends with one of the most important exhortations: the need to protect the heart above all else. The heart, as the center of moral and spiritual life, is the source of all actions and thoughts. From it "life flows," meaning that a person's quality of life, character, and destiny are determined by what resides in their heart. If the heart is full of wisdom and purity, the person's life will reflect those qualities. Therefore, special care must be taken to keep the heart clean and aligned with the wisdom of God.
