1,2,3,4 Look What You've Done To Mickey Mouse - Three Tune Tuesday

in #hive-1503292 days ago

There was a time when music was new, raw and full of power, the age of Punk Rock. Some will say it was the 70's, but without a doubt the 80's was the decade of the punk rock explosion. Here are three punk tunes from the 80's that will bring back some fond mosh pit memories.

First up, Bad Brains. Bad Brains were and all black punk band that hit hard. All talented musicians, they belted out unique tunes with a furious HR on vocals. I was lucky enough to see them live and almost broke some bones the pit was so insane. Have a listen.

Bad Brains - Big Takeover (Live At CBGB's 1982)

The next band was so influential Metallica covers one of their songs as an ode to them. They were a shock, horror band with hint's of Elvis and 50's sci-fi. You have seen their Crimson Ghost skull print on t-shirts all over the world, but do you know The Misfits?

Misfits - Where Eagles Dare

Of course we can't forget the UK. One of the best 80's UK punk bands was The Subhumans, I mean they sung about Mickey Mouse.

Subhumans - Mickey Mouse Is Dead

Wildcard Tune
Then, in the mid 80's something started to change, punk love songs? Enter the Descendents. One of the first pop punk bands in the mid 80's! Skateboards, girlfriends, and partying.

The Descendents - Wendy

The rest is history.

Thanks for listening!

Thanks to @boxcarblue for introducing me to #TTT and @ablaze for dreaming it up.

Didn’t know you were into punk. I was a little late for these bands although I listened to 3/4 of them a tiny bit. Been going to a lot more punk shows in Tokyo than I have in the last 15 years

Same here! I got into the nineties sk8 punk in middle school and worked my way back to these legends. I got started on Fat Records & Epitaph. 🎸

Oh ya, long time ago, skate punk. Brings back a lot of memories to listen to these bands.

I was a DnB DJ during my early days in Tokyo so I never went to any shows, just clubs, lots of clubs, even though I lived in Shimokitazawa! How was/is the punk scene in Japan?

These days I'd prefer to go to see/hear some live jazz, but that's probably it. Getting old is tough....

it’s strange as I get older, I like louder and more aggressive music again 😝 I think it’s because I also like more meditative ambient stuff and too much of that gets tiring so I listen to 30% the complete opposite (punk, noise, footwork, gqom, rap, experimental).

I like some local stuff, not really into seeking out punk but if I hear something good I keep it. Most are friends bands or bands

Nice mix! Man I love that live album! #Liveage

Misfits & Bad Brains $ Descendents! Great effen picks! I started putting my nineties Friday post together for this week. Covering 1992 (doing 1990-2000 one year a week currently) I’ll be putting a couple punk bands on the list)

Liveage was a pretty insane album considering it's release year. It was one of our main skateboarding albums. Set the ghetto blaster on the ramp and skate listening to Descendents!

the 1990's were pretty bleak when grunge took over. I hated that shit. Thank god I discovered DnB in 1993. Actually, your post is what brought me to make this one, so thanks! Lking forward to your next TTT posts. Sorry I don't comment.
