Just yesterday I copied the photos I had taken over the previous few days onto the computer. Nothing much had happened during those days. I didn't go for long walks, I didn't go to festivals, I didn't visit museums or exhibitions. So these are just ordinary photos taken in between - on the way from point A to point B or while cycling.
Usually photos taken one or two a day are very difficult to combine together and make a coherent story with their participation. But this time the stars aligned. Firstly, the theme is defined in such a way that you can take any photos, as long as they are recent. And secondly, these photos have several unifying motifs: perfect sunny weather, various art objects, old industrial enterprises.
I'll tell you a little about each subject. The top photos are taken on the territory of the public space ‘Sevkabelport’. This is an old factory that has become a venue for art exhibitions, concerts and other events. I noticed a small ‘pixel-art’ style figure on an old column and immediately photographed it. The people were in the frame on their own - but I certainly didn't miss the moment!
The top two photos are the same place, taken from different points. The third photo is an office building, in the window of which I noticed a head resting on the window sill. The head is positioned high up, and the capabilities of my smartphone were not enough to show it close-up. Most of all this art object looks like a plaster head used for teaching artists, only the colour is not white for some reason, but acid green.
The next four photos were taken in the Brusnitsyn-Hall creative space. The elephants, the snail, and the street art exhibition are all things you can see in detail if you decide to take a walk around the old factory. But that's not what I came for at all, I took these photos on my way to a comfy chair overlooking the Gulf of Finland. The best thing about Brusnitsyn-Hall is the promenade with comfortable benches and armchairs.
In order to take the following photos, I had to be very careful. I could have walked past this wall more than once and not noticed the embossed letters. The word ‘love’ barely stands out against the wall. The next wall is a drawing of a hand and the distinctive shape of a shadow.
The final two pictures are taken while cycling. When cycling, there is no desire to stop every couple of minutes to take another picture, but you still want to take some pictures to remember the ride. The dandelions are the embankment of the Ekaterinhofka River, and the brick water tower is one of the old railway buildings. The railway station is no longer in operation and the rails have been dismantled, replaced by new apartment blocks.
