Previously on Freddy The Flea:
After the Claw of Death and Grating Tongue of Terror came raining down, Lord Tick and his army retreated towards his chamber. Freddy and his party quickly gave chase, as they hopped onto Hessster and Ssstower.
Once they reached Lord Tick’s chamber, the doors shut behind them, and they pinned the two Berserkers down with nets. Freddy and his friends were caught, chained up, and were headed for The Ring of Fire.
Part 27
“Move it!” one of the Ticks shouted, before poking Freddy in his ribcage with a staff.
“The Ring of Fire is waiting for its sacrifice.”
It wasn’t long after that when they reached an area that had a long dangling clump of hair, which seemed to stretch down to infinity.
“Halt!” shouted the Lieutenant.
This was the same big, burly, Roughneck Flea that had caught Freddy earlier.
“Lookouts!” he called, “Do we have a visual yet?”
One of the lookouts peered through his binoculars.
“Yes Lieutenant, we’re headed straight for The Ring of Fire.”
“Time check?”
“Two minutes, Lieutenant.”
“Excellent!”
The Lieutenant walked slowly back along the group, sneering as he went along.
“Well, well. You Flea’s thought you could escape now, did you?”
“The Ring of Fire is going to be very happy with this sacrifice,” he said, before bursting out into a boisterous laugh.
“Everyone, lead the prisoners down The Path of Doom.”
“Yes, Lieutenant!” the calls returned in unison before the re-imprisoned Fleas were shoved down the endless clump of hair.
Fria looked back at Freddy. He could see she looked scared.
“Don’t worry Fria. I’m sure – “
Before Freddy could finish, one of the Roughnecks poked him on his back with his fishbone sword.
“Keep quiet!” he shouted out.
Freddy looked ahead again, before hearing Fria whispering under her breath.
“I’m scared, Freddy.”
All Freddy could do was glance back slightly and give her a half-reassuring smile.
When they reached the end of the clump, they could see the ground below. It still seemed like a long way down.
“Lieutenant,” they heard the calls from above, “We’re almost there.”
Up ahead, they could see a large fire quickly closing in. Well, the cat was rather closing in toward the fire.
When they got right up next to it, the host lay down, bringing the clump of hair right down to the ground.
“Get off,” the calls went out, as they forced the party to the ground.
It was cold and damp on the ground, but the large fire above felt strangely hot as the Fleas were forced to march ahead. Glowing embers could be seen on the sides from what appeared to be a massive round container holding the fire.
‘Is this it?’ Freddy thought as the Roughneck Fleas and Ticks kept pushing them ahead toward the Ring of Fire.
Eventually, they reached a ramp, which led to the top of the Ring of Fire. Lord Tick, adorning an exoskeleton of a Flea atop his head, called out.
“Halt!”
The party, still chained up, was forced to a halt, with fishbone swords, staffs, and clubs being aimed toward them.
“The time has come for us to cleanse the world of its scourge!” Lord Tick called out.
“The Ring of Fire demands a sacrifice!”
With that, Lord Ticks’ army called out in unison.
“Sacrifice, sacrifice!”
“You,” Lord Tick called out, guiding his staff along the party, “You are the chosen ones!”
Cheers rang out from the army, and Lord Tick threw his arms up in the air, before ushering them to silence.
“Never, have we ever had an uprising. Your disobedience must be paid for! Bring the intruders to me,” Lord Tick demanded.
With that, Fria and DaFlea were pulled from the lines, cuffed, and shoved toward Lord Tick, still standing atop Spencersss.
Freddy looked on in terror, as the Ticks forced the pair to their knees.
“You will not be sacrificed to the Ring of Fire. Your souls will not find peace in the afterlife. Instead, you will become food for my very hungry pet here,” Lord Tick said, as he stroked Spencersss head.
Spencersss was growling at them, baring his teeth as the drool kept dripping from the side of his mouth.
A sudden ruckus and noise in the background drew everyone’s attention. Everyone looked back to see what the commotion was all about. Another cat had pounced on the alley cat they traveled upon, and the two went rolling, hissing, and scratching at each other.
‘Is that the same cat we tried to get onto earlier?’ Freddy thought.
‘Was it the cat where my amigo’s ended up earlier?’
It wasn’t long after that when they could hear some faint cheering sounds in the distance.
Lord Tick scrounged his eyes, trying to make out what was happening just beyond the light of the fire. Hundreds of little shadows emerged, and they were headed straight for them.
