Literally! Have not come across a quote that means more literal. Indeed the grass is greener when you water it. The first ever rainfall of this year’s rainy season came on 22nd March, and guess what happens to the almost deserted pastures where the livestock could barely graze on anything for their survival, it’s greener now. Divine intervention for the poor livestock that grew lean so much so that can count their ribs.
Only heaven knows what it takes for rainfall to happen. I will not dismiss the fact that it takes some effort.
Though this blog has little to do with rainfall and grass.
This blog has more to do with effort and intentionality. It highlights how when you are intentional about your efforts, and having put in your maximum makes success your fate.
The grass is greener when you water it indeed.
It is very important to use examples that you can easily relate to. So let our first example consider the hive blockchain.
Being a decentralized system, everyone could have easily washed their hands off its “leadership” in the name of nobody owns it. But to ensure greener pastures there is the need for some bit of effort to be put in place. In this case, greener pastures means good value of hive. This is why we see people running different projects on the hive blockchain. It is their effort to ensure the success of the hive project; a good value of the hive token. There are projects such as OCD, SKATEHIVE, NEOXIAN CITY, MUTERRA, HELIOS, SPLINTERLANDS, THREESPEAK, just to mention a few. All these projects serve as water to the hive blockchain and they share a common goal which is ultimately to see the success of the hive token. Effort.
Let’s come down to the students’ level.
The grass is greener when you water it.
Have you ever encountered someone who is so smart that he is out of this world? Sometimes you are in the same class with this person. Or you just see them on TV. It happens, and sometimes there is not much you can say than to just dismiss that some people just have it so easy. I know in the case of your course mate you cannot fathom how both of you sit in the same hall for the same lectures but at the end of the day he is always ahead. It is easy to dismiss people as being gifted in this case. Yes of course some are gifted but there are others who come out that good straight from toil and effort. Maybe if you also put in a little more effort you can match up with them.
No one is really smart, think of it this way, they learned everything they know and so can you. Put in the effort.
The grass is greener when you water it.
Do you admire bloggers who are consistent on hive? Do you want to be consistent too?
If you’re not already then you don’t want it that bad enough.
Wake up. Nothing good comes easy. These people make this thing looks so easy. You have probably at least thought this before. It’s really not, or if they want to motivate you to do it they’ll tell you “it’s actually not that hard”. Well that’s just another way to look at it. Just get an idea and just start writing. The reality is that that it takes effort, especially the simplest littlest things.
Another way you can make it easy for yourself is to have fun doing it. Do it for the fun of it. Don’t think too much about it like me; how good or how up-to-standard is it. Just do it.
Even that still takes some effort.
The grass is greener when you water.
Are you trying to develop or improve any personal habit? They say if you do something repeatedly for three days it becomes a habit. Try that. How that actually work is, if you continue that habit after the third day and keeps going then you know it has worked. But that only actually works if you really put in the effort to make it work.
The grass is greener when you water it.
You want to develop consistency.
First understand that doing something daily is not the only way to be consistent with something. You choose how you want to do it. Just show up the time you set for yourself!
If you choose daily then show up daily. Is it every three days you choose? Show up. Weekly? Show up. Effort.
It all takes effort.
The grass is greener when you water it.
Let me leave you with this wise quotation I learned from @smariam’s book review series. It states..
The Law Of Diminishing Intent
The longer you wait to do something you should do now, the higher the odds that you would never actually do it.
So put in the effort and just do it!
There is really no other way around it.
