FungiFriday: A Mushroom Walk in the Wet Rainforest

in #hive-1513272 years ago

These are the mushroom walks we did take from May to September 2022. Despite the fact that the time spans differ, all of these images were taken in the same forest, namely the Sukamakmur area of North Aceh's hinterland.

In North Aceh, this area is known as the highlands, and it has a wet rainforest environment. Sadly, many forest areas have been converted into oil palm plantations by local communities. Even so, there are still some places with untouched forests, and mushroom hunting there is an interesting activity.

Here are some of the mushroom species we noticed while walking there, and this is my contribution to the #FungiFriday challenge.

Polyporus leprieurii

This fungus has a fruiting body with a rough texture similar to coconut fiber. Based on its physical characteristics, I can confirm that this is Polyporus leprieurii, a species of poroid fungus belonging to the family Polyporaceae.

The mushrooms will change color over time, initially from light brown to dark brown, and the sides of the mushroom surface will wrinkle until they curl.

Mycena rubromarginata

They grew in small groups on the mossy ground. It appears to be the red edge bonnet fungus, scientifically known as Mycena rubromarginata. This mushroom cap is similar to the fairy inkcap, but it has a shorter stem.

Pluteus readiarum

This one is a convex cap mushroom with the scientific name Pluteus readiarum. I noticed there was only one.

You have photographed the mushroom in great detail. I like the results of this portrait.
