Hello friends,
Happy #FungiFriday to all of you.
Another Friday has arrived.
As I was going through the September photos, I recalled that I had found porcini mushrooms in an oak-dominated park. This region does not have many of this kind of mushroom. Due to the oak's importance in the evolution of this species, it can only be found in parks with a significant oak tree population. The central and southern regions of the country have the highest concentration of such areas. Rarely do the mushrooms in this park succeed in reaching the mature stage because they are frequently trimmed. Since September was wet and the public services in charge of keeping the park did not visit as frequently, there was a surprisingly large variety and quantity of mushrooms.
Although one of the tastier mushrooms, this particular one's size was insufficient for a single meal. It therefore functioned solely as a prop for a photo shoot.
I photographed it up close while rotating it in all directions.
