I had just hit a jackpot with dogs airdrop and got some tangible allocations which earned me some money. Lucky for me, the ION project had just launched a few hours before the token went live on trading. Before the airdrops were shipped to our choice exchanges, we were promised some extra gains if we selected specific exchanges to receive our airdrops. So, I signed up for BITGET exchange (cex) which I had never used before or was familiar with the interface. Based on my knowledge of other exchanges, I was able to navigate my way under the spot section to receive the dog's token.
Trading my dog's token was not a hassle. I was used to trading to USDT on other exchanges and thus, traded my tokens easily. Equally, I bought and traded my crypto to the ICE token which I needed to boost my ION project that had recently launched. So, confidently, I initiated a withdrawal on the BITGET exchange for the ION boost which was thirty minutes bound. The first challenge was having to take into consideration the charges on the withdrawal as the deposit to the ION had to be specific and within the thirty-minute timeframe.
Immediately after I initiated the withdrawal, I waited for a notification in my email to inform me about the status of my withdrawal but to no avail. I went straight into the exchange to find the transaction hash of the withdrawal and unfortunately, could not find it either. This was where panic took over my emotions and I began to navigate through the exchange. I clicked on the withdrawal I had made and saw nothing about the transaction ID or even a link to lead me to the Explorer. My $17 was at risk as it was equally sent to a dead wallet.
I watched the time tick as I began to frantically search through possible means to retrieve the transaction ID. I have done hundreds of transactions before that day and finding the transaction ID should not be a problem. I navigated to the overview and saw only the transaction but without an ID. I checked notifications also and nothing there related to the transaction I had done. I went to refresh my emails hoping to see a miracle but again, met with a dead end. It was a work-hour period and the need to attend to some assignments at work further displaced me. Some superior officers came to inquire about an item while another even came to check his blood pressure. I did not want to sound rude but they must have noticed how destabilized I was.

I resorted to the only alternative I could think of and that was searching through the BACK scanner for the transaction using the timeframe I carried out the transaction. My laptop and phone were simultaneously working with my trembling fingers. Losing $17 was not something I envisaged or I could let go easily. The time seemed to even run faster than usual and just when I was able to locate my transaction on the BSC scanner, the time on the ION project had just elapsed within two minutes.
My erratic heartbeat just would not stop. I was extremely sad and worried. Work at the office continued to draw my attention but the only thing I wished for was to wake up from the dilemma I was in. I wondered if those interruptions I had could have facilitated my loss of funds or why I had not gotten used to using the BITGET exchange interface. Yet again, I blamed myself for not having made smaller amounts of transactions before then.
I took to social media and searched out possible support for the ION project and the only feasible means of communication was through their email address as other channels like telegram had no means of exchanging communication. I sent emails to them to no avail and date, got no response. So, rather than wallow in regrets, I invested another funds into boosting the same ION project but using another exchange (MEXC) I was familiar with.
I have a WhatsApp group with some airdrop hunters and I had promised a giveaway when the dog's token gets listed. So, despite my loss and hurt, I went ahead to fulfill my promise to the group members. Of course, I explained in brief what I had just lost and some sympathized with me.
I got home dejected and drained. I had just bought an MTN WiFi that cost me about 80% of my salary in addition to the crises I had just experienced in one day. I took a deep breath and calmed myself with hope that there was life. I took to my routine checks of social media and other airdrop tasks and wallets only for me to see a spike in my wallet balance on Plena. I had won a $20 token that same day. I jumped up in excitement and my mood became elated. I wondered if I got compensated for my loss after the goodwill giveaway gesture.
Subsequently, I promised myself to understand exchange interfaces before trading significant monies on them.
