3 Tips I adopt for improved Digital Wellness.

I'm one of those whose daily lifestyle comes with certainty of active involvement in more and more digital activity. I basically leave my digital footprint all over the places I frequent whenever I'm on my phone or laptop and it's self-evident that there's no decent break from doing that.

What I'm saying in earnest is that I genuinely understand my involvement in the digital world and I spend an insane amount of time in that space. It's not as wild as the 24/7 activity count. But my numbers are bonkers and it doesn't even matter if it's midweek or weekend. That's how crazy my involvement in the digital world has been in recent years.

How do you maintain digital wellness in your daily life?

This is the prompt that got me thinking and it's interesting because I've reviewed my digital activity a couple of times to see what I can improve on for a better digital life. The answer to that seems fairly obvious and common. But for the sake of this discussion, I will highlight a few of them;

1. I try to do productive things while in the digital space.

I'm not one to casually pick up my phone or laptop and aimlessly scroll around for an hour. It's not very often I find myself in that loop. Part of the reason for that is that I have a very busy and compact digital life. So, at most times of the day, several digital events call for my attention.

It also helps that I have a few digital activities I do to make money. The stuff we all have going on in this Blockchain is one of those and y'all can attest to the amount of time it takes an average Hivian to create posts and engage in communities on the Blockchain. Plus the off-chain activities that are tied to Hive.

2. I try to stay off my gadgets during important real-life events.

In my experience, it's self-evident that I'm digitally active enough to jump into the digital space and be active in the space from morning to nightfall. I've had to resort to that on several occasions. Yet, I know best to keep my gadgets away whenever I'm involved in an important real-life event. For instance, when I'm taking a walk or doing any home chores, I try to completely stay off my gadgets.

I'm often in the habit of attaching my earphones to my phone and plugging one of the ears into my ear while hanging the other around my right ear. Yet, even when I have it plugged in like that, I never buzz any song or listen to any podcast. I just like to stay present and alert without any distracting sounds in my ears when I'm taking a walk. If I'm in a physical discussion with someone or in a physical gathering, I completely stay off my device.

3. Freezing Apps help me to stay focused when on my gadgets.

I don't know if the option to freeze Apps is available on all mobile devices, but that has been my go-to software on my smartphone for almost 5 years. I mostly freeze distracting Apps there to be sure I won't get a buzz from the App when I'm busy doing something more relevant. My WhatsApp is one of those Apps that's frozen for the most part of each year.

I'm not one to be seen on WhatsApp. Yet, I know that it could come in handy once in a blue moon. So, I often prefer to have it frozen until when I need to access the App. I also freeze a bunch of my crypto-related Apps until the need arises to perform some operation on those.

So you're part of the "don't talk to me when you see earphones" gang. It's very unlikely for me to ear earphones and not listen to something for long.

I have never actually tried freezing apps before. It's not a factory feature for me, so I may have to find a way around it.

Yes oooo. I can be on my earphones for a whole day without buzzing anything on it. Haha. Sometimes, it feels like I just use it to maintain a noiseless composure when I'm working on my gadget or when I'm casually moving around.
