When the Network Fails You: Stories of Survival

One thing I always forget to do when I move into a new place is to check the internet connectivity there. My mistake I guess. Internet connectivity is something that is very important to me with the kind of life I’m living. Everything I do on the daily basis requires strong internet connectivity but the situation I always find myself in isn’t favorable at all.

I remember when we moved into my dads new house. Everything with internet wasn’t a problem until a week later. We could not even send a simple whatsapp message without it taking hours. Sometimes we would have to go sit outside just to get some internet connectivity. Later on , my dad decided to purchase a wireless internet satellite which was good for us. We stopped complaining and enjoyed it as we should until it got spoilt. Then, the problem started again.

A while later, I moved out of home and I haven’t really spent much time home since. My first encounter with poor internet connectivity was when I moved into a new hostel in level 300. I struggled with the network so much that I changed my hostel to stay with my friend.

Fast forward to where I’m currently staying. It’s just frustrating and words can’t explain how I always struggle with the internet. I can barely load anything or use any app. Anytime I need fast internet, I have to go sit outside or go visit a friend just to be able to do what I want to do. Just this week, I had a very important meeting with some investors and man, I couldn’t even load google to even find a way to join the meeting. At the end of the day, I missed most parts of the meeting and I just thank God I had other team members to stand in for me.

I’m currently planning on getting a mifi or a router to help with the internet situation I’m currently facing. Hopefully, by the end of the year, struggling with internet connectivity would be a thing of the past for me.
