I was minding my business on my phone when I got a notification of a video that directed me to YouTube to watch it fully, then an ad for an app popped up before the video started and the way the app was advertised got me curious to see what was in it. Well, I got lured in and the outcome was interesting. One thing about me is that if I get curious to download an app just to see how it works, I uninstall it even without checking the rest if it doesn't interest me. But this particular one made me want to share my reviews on it and would be one I will be using to help improve myself.

Here comes WordUp Ai Vocabulary Builder. Who doesn't want to improve his or her vocabulary? I do! I love learning new words and most especially using them in my daily interaction with people online and offline world.

While I was fascinated by the way the app was described, I moved on to installing it and here we are. As I opened the app, this welcomed me and I loved the color on the interface.

The next page was this where it asked me which accent I preferred and I chose British.

Both British and American English are two major varieties of the English language and since I am a teacher and fond of education, I chose British as schools in Nigeria typically use British English in their curriculum and teaching materials. The reason is that the preference is due to Nigeria's historical colonial ties with Britain which has influenced greatly the education sector in the country.

On the next page, I got a tour guide whose name is Lexi and also the AI machine speaking in the form of a human and taking me on a tour around the app just to make me feel at home and not feel lost.

I was told what to expect such as an artificial intelligence that would help perfect my English, being assured that WordUp is life, from basic to native level and also learning only the words that matter to my life, not just random words. Hmm. This is interesting, I thought to myself. So, let's keep going.

Onto the next page was the question: what's my native language?

I was surprised to see my native language (Yoruba) as the first on the top without stressing me to start searching or inputting the name on the search bar. I guess Lexi already knew it and popped it up for me. Without stress, I clicked on Yoruba and continued to the next page.

The next page asked about my level of English.

There are 4 levels here; beginner, basic, intermediate and fluent. At first, I was confused with the one to choose from either fluent or intermediate. After some minutes of thinking, I decided to try the intermediate perhaps switch later if the words were too simple for me. Lol
The next slide was for Lexi to help me out in my confused state as if she already knew that. I was presented with some tests which I passed and was told fluent level is what I should go for. That's nice! I chose that afterwards and the tour continued.

The next page was to choose the reason for learning English vocabulary and I chose the three options that were there.

We moved to the next section where I was told to pick my profession.

One is only required to choose a maximum of 3 professions at first, then after successful signup, there is the option to edit or add more depending on your preference. The first three professions I chose were Finance & Economics, Psychology & Counselling and teaching & Education.

Other details required are selecting your age and choosing your desired daily goal; like when is it convenient to learn a new vocabulary word daily. I was given some words to test my vocabulary with the instruction that if I knew a word, I should tap once and if I needed to learn more about the word, I should tap twice which I did. The colours for tapping once and twice are different.

After a successful registration, I was given my first word to learn which was CONTEMPORARY. This was me trying to test the app to see its authenticity. I love that the meaning can be translated into my native language for easy understanding. While exploring this app, to be honest, I didn't know some words shown before until I saw their meanings and how they are used in sentences.

One thing I love about this app is that you can decide if you already know a word or learn more about it and if the words given to you are easy, you can swipe right for a higher range where big words are released for you. At least before you leave the app, you are assured of learning new words that make you want to come back again.

Another fun thing is that you are given 3 hearts filled daily after practicing which keeps you motivated to keep coming for more hearts. Also, you can choose your preferred theme and also pick more interests you'd like to learn words on.

Also, when a word is given, more words are compared with it but more explanations are given to differentiate them and how they are used in context just like the ones in the images above.

Other words to be compared with Medieval are shown below with their differences and how they are used.

Like the word Anachronistic, it's my first time hearing that and I guess this app will help me along the way with new words while I dedicate some minutes daily to improve my vocabulary words for easy interaction and use in my expression both online and offline.

All images are screenshots captured while exploring the app.

Thanks for your time reading. Looking forward to your interaction.

Interesting, I’ve now learned that Nigerians learn from British English but then… let me hold on with that

My phone should see the kind of apps people get on their YouTube ads and stop giving me games.

Definitely a great app, I’m on my way to look for it

My phone should see the kind of apps people get on their YouTube ads and stop giving me games.

😃😃 I guess it's the kind of preference you signed for on YouTube that makes it always bring ad games. Lol

Oh okay

Wow

I fell in love with it when I saw the native language translation. This is no doubt a great app that can improve ones vocabulary if practiced consistently.

I'll give it a try too. Thanks for sharing

Yea. It's a great app too and I also fell in love with it upon seeing yoruba translation as there are some words where I can only understand when it is explained in my dialect.

I think I love the app already, I found the color of the interface lovely as well, it is calming and fascinating.

The whole process as you describes it will make learning new vocabulary very easy and interesting.

Yes, with the ones I have been learning, it's interesting.

I used a wordup application some years ago but at that time it had no connection with AI. I don't know even it's a new application. I think this application has many things that can help us to learn more vocabulary as well as the case of language.

Yes. This comes with AI and beneficial in the case of learning new languages.

This is interesting. I'm on my way downloading the app in my phone, just to improve my vocabulary. Thank you for sharing this app with us.

You are welcome, Peace ✌️
