I barely do without my phone, not addicted but I am always on my phone as long as I am not doing something important that involves the phone. See a movie, surf the internet, watch videos on Instagram and on YouTube at night, engage and write on Hive, listen to music, are common things I do with my phone. I can say it is hard to not be with my phone. I think in this era, we are more confined to be on our phones especially when we don't have anything to do, they are enough things to pass time with just with a smartphone.
Being without a phone unplanned is something I wouldn't pray to happen to me, my family and friends, it is crazy. I've experienced it more than 3 times. Let's get straight to the stories......
My Tecno Pouviour 3 plus was working fine when I used it from morning till late into the next day, around past 12am to sleep. I woke up about two hours later and saw the screen of the phone has turned green, it was like a green but transparent screen gaurd was on it. I opened my eyes more widely, I thought I was hallucinating because I just woke up. Lo and behold, it was real. I decided to sleep back (actually, I fell asleep unintentionally, you get😂). I woke up very early in the morning and this screen is not showing anything but was responsive. I was breathing loud as if there wasn't enough air in the room. It was just 2 weeks to 2nd semester examination, I can't imagine preparing for exams without a phone. My lecture notes won't even do the job for me.
I would sleep like a new born baby, eat, watch movie on the laptop, visit my neighbour, read on the laptop then sleep again, eat, sleep again. It was during exam free week, I was not going to school. Alone, in my room, I would think for hours and imagine things, most times my legs resting on the wall and my face straight at the white decking of the room. I endured 2 boring weeks.
Another time I stayed without phone was because of power outage. We couldn't find a place to charge until past 10, so I and my friends decided to leave our phone in the neighbours room. The bored was a great one. I read close to 30 pages of a book in one sitting, same book I was struggling to read for about two weeks. That made me realise again that unhealthy use of phone steals a lot of time from us.
Last year November, I had traveled to my uncle's house to spend holiday with my him because his house was about 4 hours 30 minutes drive from my school. I had a very bad power bank, swollen and doesn't last long. I got there and was served not rice and stew. I had already imagined the soft life I was going to live. My uncle came home late from work and he said "ahh Samuel, this one that you came to visit just when some stuffs got stolen from the transformer". I couldn't hide my shock. I said "arrgghhhhh".
I didn't see that coming at all. It got me worried because my power bank can't even charge my phone twice. Oh I forgot, my phone last only 3
