A few weeks ago, a friend of mine was telling me how surprised she was when she learnt that digital skills had become the next big thing. She lamented on how she went to an event and everyone there was advanced at least if not much but little in digital marketing. She felt really sad and embarrassed. According to her, she was the only one who was not engaging in the
digi-discussing.
I get it because my friend is someone who is focused on her offline work and life. But that day, she cried out that she wanted to learn at least one digital skill. I was happy with that decision because why not…. the world is going fast digital and for you to fit in, you must be fast digital too. Someone like me, I have always loved to be in the digital world, and that was what led me to becoming a social media manager and of course an administrative virtual assistant.
There are so many digital skills out there that if I was given the opportunity to master them all (aswear, I will and I will as well break the record of jack of all trades, master of none) 😂
Hehe! I love everything digital, I'm that one digi-gurl you haven't met.
When I saw this digi-prompt;
The One Digital Skill I Wish I Had—And Why It Matters
I was like, are you whining me? Me that want to learn every digital skills, how will I now just name one 🥺 lol! But yes, in as much as I want to learn everything digital. I still have the top one skill I would go first if given the chance which is VIDEO EDITING. I have basic knowledge on video editing but that's not enough, I know. I want to learn both basic and advanced knowledge, I want to learn everything. Learning this skill will help me a lot because I love creating videos on my own. I created tons of videos but they are still there hiding in my phone because it's not good enough to share them. And most of the time, one doesn't feel like writing, so instead of putting it down for reading, I can just go ahead to create a short video. Moreover, stats have shown that people watch videos more than they read as long as the video is interesting.
How would this skill improve your daily life or help in today's tech-driven world?
Videos are becoming the top of the town, if you take a stroll on every street of social media and you will see that videos are booming like never before…. Even LinkedIn has embraced the era of videos, it now has a section for those who create and for those who love watching videos. For clearer and better communication, if you really want to communicate to your audience, then I tell you that there is no better way to do that than to create captivating videos. Creators who create resonating videos have ten times more views than creators who don't. If I learn this skill it will not just help me but business owners and professionals out there who looks forward to creating more videos.
Share what's stopping you from learning it—time, resources, motivation—and how you think you could overcome it.
As a social media manager, it is expected of me to master this video editing so to ease the stress off my clients especially when they need a video editor, it saves them the cost of hiring a different person for the role. Though I have One thing that is stopping me from learning this video editing, which is money, I have saved so many ads talking about how to edit videos and their prices and how I can purchase the course pending on when I get the money. One thing I know for sure is that before this year runs out, I will not just purchase the course but I will learn, master it and of course become a vid-edit guru.🤭
I just want to be that vid-edit gurl you can count on when you need stunning videos.
I can see you have read to the end! I hope you enjoyed reading through? Thank you 😊 and see you in the next episode of my blog.
