The advent of artificial intelligence in our world today brings about loads of changes and impact on every day life; it implementation as made many things seamlessly and tasks performed in different aspects achieve within a short period unlike before when it took time to complete such tasks; however, despite its positive impact, artificial intelligence also has it downside on different aspects of life, which although I'll say is mostly down to human factor, but then today I'll be extensively talking about the positives and negatives aspect of artificial intelligence.
The major reason being the invention of artificial intelligence is to improve our way of life, so it can simplify most of the things we'll normally have done through a difficult process, and at Inception it did just that. However, what many didn't know is that with such innovative technology comes some high-stakes demands and skills to stay relevant, and that's why most people, especially those who don't have these skills, feel artificial intelligence is mostly negative to society, but today, like I said, I'll be exploring both the good and bad of AI, so together we can go learn how to best navigate our usage of this wonderful tool, so without further ado, let's get to it.
Positive aspects of artificial intelligence
Efficiency: one of the positive aspects of artificial intelligence is that it's very efficient and vast in basically every aspect and can do work seamlessly with little or no error whatsoever. Artificial intelligence has been integrated into aspects such as mathematics, English, science, and the like, and yet it'll give you an accurate response. When artificial intelligence such as a robot is specially built to function in one field or another, it tends to deliver a perfect job because that's exactly what its program is to do, and that's why it's more efficient and replacing humans in some workforce, and that's because unlike man, it doesn't get tired and won't complain like a man would.
Aid research: another positive impact of artificial intelligence is that it aids research for humans, making the task of researching more easily and fast than it used to be. Unlike before, when one needed to search on Google or other search engines, AI like ChatGPT has aided man's job delivery in terms of research because rather than spend hours searching on Google and other search engines, opening multiple links to get a concrete answer, artificial intelligence would give you an accurate response and even give you an accurate reference that can back up your research either at work or school.
Innovation and creativity: with the aid of artificial intelligence, both students and workers can now draw inspiration from the innovative ideals suggested by AI to enhance their job delivery at work or school projects, and that in the end brings accordance and recognition to them because AI is known to hold loads of creative ideals that can bring solutions to most of man's challenges.
Other positive aspects of artificial intelligence include their impact in the health sector, decision-making, and many more, to mention but a few.
Negative impact of artificial intelligence
Job displacement: like I said earlier, the efficiency of artificial intelligence has led to many people being relied on for their duties because organizations now feel artificial intelligence will perform a better job and they won't have to continuously pay it wages like they would to humans, and all it'll need is maintenance, and it's good to go.
Inspires laziness: one of the downsides most people have seen about artificial intelligence is that it has made loads of people lazier than they used to be, as they now run to artificial intelligence to perform all of their tasks rather than use their own interests and improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and that's why most students now depend on AI to feed them answers to their school questions rather than read to understand, and the same is the case in society and at work.
We also have negative aspects such as security risks; that's how our information and programs can easily be hacked or gained access to, leading to data and security breaches. All of these and many more are the downsides of artificial intelligence.
And that's why I personally believe it's ideal to approach its usage cautiously and wisely in order to benefit from the mind-blowing opportunity it presents without being overly reliant on it or dependent on it to the point where we won't be able to do simple things on our own, and also because we should be mindful of the information we share with it because these are the data we gather to serve others during their research as well.
