Welcome to Coffee Conversation Central, a curation compilation of comments from our recent Coffee Conversation event that was held here at Cinnamon Cup Coffee, to boost interaction amongst community members.
A fun topic was presented, to get authors thinking about their favorite elixir of life - coffee.
If you were to choose between never smelling coffee ever again and never tasting coffee, which would it be, and why?
That's a tough decision, right?
Authors also shared their creative side by posting a photo, gif, painting, or drawing that represents them without coffee.
Well, here are some of the best thought-provoking responses.
I decide NOT to smell coffee by @daimar
After having spent months without my sense of smell due to covid, I can say that I got used to not smelling some things.
So, despite the adversities OVERCOME, I decide to enjoy and savor every day my big cup of coffee as I like it, with powdered milk, sugar, chocolate, or cinnamon, well blended in the blender to make enough foam so that we have white mustaches and make faces to have fun while having breakfast with the family. You have to take advantage of all the senses so I also enjoy listening to the coffee maker in my home...
Zero Coffee. A story with an evil end by @itsostylish
I have a vaporizing, semi-automatic, AI-driven, heat-seeking, steampunk-designed, machine gun. I’ve been training it on machine-learning algorithms for a few days now, but I’m warning you guys, NOW, I’m a damn good programmer and I’m quick.
See, it’s simple - touch my coffee and find out just how good I am 😊 😡 😤 😠
In defense of the realm,
I can’t choose.
May the force protect and guide you!
I guess I could also snort it (coffee) by @edprivat
Interestingly, we taste with our noses too.
When we take a sip of coffee, the smell is 80% responsible for the taste; meaning that if you can't smell, you probably only can taste very faintly that its coffee...
But just for the caffeine factor, I'll probably have to choose between losing the sense of smell and drinking a 20% tasteful coffee, otherwise, I'll never wake up. 🤣
Let's go "sniff" some coffee 😂 by @simplifylife
Oh I'd give up the smell.
Drinking coffee is not just about the taste to me, it is entwined with so many memories of sleepless nights before exams that I just can't give that up! Drinking coffee has resulted in so many lovely chats with friends at a cafe that smelling coffee alone would never be able to replace it.
I mean if you say to a friend "Let's go sniff some coffee at a cafe" they'd probably call 911!
Having to do without Coffee would be crazy by @lisrl26
The aroma of coffee makes my imagination fly, it is irreplaceable.
I love when they are grinding the beans, I remain as a statue during the process, just feeling the essence.
I would propose a solution in the following way... I smell the coffee grind while tasting a similar hot drink, the aroma would make me imagine drinking the most exquisite coffee, I would savor it and enjoy it as usual.
Choosing between never smelling coffee and never tasting coffee by @riyuuhi
The two actions are co-dependent...
Tasting coffee without smelling it first is quite impossible. So I might choose not to taste it if I can not smell it.
Without coffee is highly impossible. Although I don't need the caffeine kick to pick me up in the morning, the drink itself is part of my morning breakfast that I can't let go of.
The smell of coffee over the taste of it by @sofiaquino98
I have tasted hundreds of coffees, half have been really good and half have been honestly bad. However, the smell of the coffee has never let me down, and that's the best part. The smell of coffee is invariable, it is characteristic, it is strong and it remains over time, so that is my choice. ☕️
I once lost my sense of smell by @isdarmady
I can still enjoy coffee even though I can't feel the strong aroma of coffee.
I try to imagine and simulate my life. Trying to never taste coffee again and try to find a drink substitution to replace the 4-5 cups of coffee that I drink every day. Finally, I couldn't find the best scenario. It seems that I will choose not to be able to smell coffee but can still enjoy a cup of coffee because my body and brain need coffee to continue living.
Our sense of smell is completely linked to our sense of taste by @tibilopez
My life without coffee would not be a life...
but if I have to choose between its pleasant aroma and its delicious taste, I would stay without smelling it, but I would continue enjoying for the rest of my life that exquisite flavor, drinking and tasting it pleasantly, imagining that peculiar aroma that has its different brands, but I would never stay without drinking every day at least one cup of my adored coffee.❤️☕️😍
Coffee without that signature smell is just Ewww by @kei2
There's something about the aroma. It's like magic when brewed. It takes you to places. Almost nostalgic. If I can smell it, I could pretend to be drinking it. Without coffee. I guess I would just snap at everyone around me.
I'd probably act like mean fairies are whispering in my ears, nasty things to do.
I choose never to taste coffee by @happyyy101
Coffee may still be tasted with the nose or nasal sense while being ingested with the aroma. I can smell the flavor of the coffee and will imagine it while drinking it. :)
