These days the weather in my city has been extremely rainy. This condition is peculiar to me because normally the month characterized by this type of weather is May, and even Cubans have the tradition of drinking from the waters of the first downpour of this month as an omen of good health. However, on Friday I had unpostponable activities to do outside the house, so not even the rain could stop me.
Once I finished my work, I decided to look for a place to enjoy my afternoon coffee. And with that goal in mind, I went to La Flor de Zapata, which is a coffee shop located very close to the area I was walking through at that moment.
The first thing that caught my attention was that, to my surprise, they accepted payments in HBD. I already knew that in the city there are already some gastronomic facilities that allow this type of transactions, but I had not personally visited any of them.
I found the place very nice, with a decoration characterized by the presence of antique objects on one of its walls. The bar simulates a brick wall, and the doors are made of glass and wood. As I am very curious, I asked if the name of the place was related to some historical event, since the door reflected the year 1926; but the clerk on duty had no knowledge of this.
Finally, after a short tour of the place, I ordered my espresso. The order was placed immediately, and I was given a container with white sugar to sweeten it to my liking. However, I decided to drink it without added sugars, and enjoy the taste of the precious liquid with all my senses.
