These few days, I haven't been actively writing or posting anything on Hive, because I'm busy preparing for Eid al-Adha. In Indonesia we (Muslims) are celebrating Eid al-Adha and I also want to wish all my friends a happy celebration.
Usually, every week I will go to the coffee shop to review the coffee shop, sometimes I will tell about the taste of the coffee or the condition of the coffee shop which is interesting to discuss. This time it was different, I got an interesting impression when I visited a café with the concept of Italian cuisine in my city. Let's discuss!!
Goloso Pasta Pizzeria
Goloso is an Authentic Italian Restaurant that already has three outlets in three different cities in Indonesia. After Bali and Jakarta, Goloso Pasta Pizzare opened an outlet in Medan City, precisely in the Middle of People and Place. The location of this restaurant or cafe is on West Irian Street, behind Uniland Plaza Builiding and is very strategic because it is close to the city center and Keramaain.
Goloso has an Italian café concept that has an interesting, unique and different interior design from other cafes in my city. In Medan City, Goloso maintains its outdoor concept with a modern rustic feel. The dine-in experience in Goloso is also very interesting, we will feel like in the middle of the forest with a kitchen bar resembling a cabin.
As an Italian Café, Goloso provides a variety of pasta, pizza, steak, mocktail, cocktail and Italian coffee style menus. This intrigued me, at first I wanted to relax with a cup of mocktail but I was told it would be a different coffee experience to the usual coffee shops. So, I tried ordering an iced Americano and what was my impression of the coffee?
Iced Americano
Americano is coffee made using an espresso machine. One cup Americano, usually made using hot water and one shot of espresso. Many people, like me, also like to add ice to Americano, so the Iced Americano menu is a favorite for people who like coffee with no sugar, low calories and a lighter taste than hot Americano.
I always order Americano for new coffee shops I visit, from Americano I can get interesting insights about the coffee used and whether the coffee shop or café is serious about coffee or the coffee menu is just complementary.
Crema Coffee
You can see the Iced Americano that I ordered, the crema is very pretty in white and gold. Crema coffee is an indicator of coffee used fresh roasted or old coffee. Crema is a brownish foam that forms on the top of freshly made espresso. Iced Americano from Goloso uses fresh coffee, judging from the crema it produces. I tried to taste this coffee. The taste is very strong and bold, from the taste it looks like Goloso is using coffee with Italian Dark Roast roasting level. This roasting level produces a thick body coffee and a strong (or very bitter) coffee taste. The dark roast level does reduce the original taste of the coffee but the coffee aroma becomes very strong and fragrant.
This Iced Americano is a little too bitter for me, usually local coffee shops in my city use Arabica coffee with a medium to dark roast level to make espresso so it tastes lighter, slightly sour, and also very fresh. Iced Americano from Goloso uses a mix of robusta and Arabica with dark level roasting, I had to add a little liquid sugar to enjoy this coffee.
Adding a little sugar to coffee certainly doesn't make us sin, does it? Comfort and taste are the most important when enjoying a cup of coffee. I enjoyed my time at Goloso Pasta Pizzeria, a cold cup of coffee accompanied by a green atmosphere in the middle of the city. Looks like I'll be coming back here again.
