A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, especially to the coffee lovers. I had several days without posting, as I had a trip for work and with several commitments away from home, I didn't have time to sit down and write. But I am glad to be back, once again writing to you in the comfort of home with a cup of coffee in my hand. As I was telling you, I had to travel to the city of San Cristobal for work reasons, I always tell about my trips to the city, since it is not far from the town where I live, but this time the work commitments were big and intense, so my boss put me up in a local hotel, so I could stay several days there. In this stay in the city, I had the pleasant opportunity to visit La Molienda, a nice coffee shop located in the heart of Barrio Obrero, one of the most important commercial areas of the city.
I had always wanted to go to this coffee shop, as it looks lovely and cozy from the outside. But whenever I passed by, I was always in a hurry. But staying in the center of the city, I took the pleasure of visiting it. From the moment I entered, I was struck by the atmosphere full of exquisite aromas. In front of the door, I was greeted by a huge blackboard with all the variety of coffees they offer. From the classic espresso to the macchiato, as well as options of coffees flavored with spices. There was something for all tastes and preferences.
I love that the proposal this time, is oriented to the theme of winter. In Venezuela, in spite of having only two seasons (winter and summer), when December approaches, we start to feel a little cold. As we are a Caribbean country, our climate is tropical, so our winter is crazy, where we alternate: heavy rains, humid heat, freezing nights or mornings and a few variants. Well, the reason I went to La Molienda is because I was freezing, since I was supporting the organization of a cultural festival and it was outdoors. At about 6 pm when the sun began to set, the cold began to intensify, and as I live in a hot area these temperatures affected me. So I told my dear @aly.squid to go for a nice hot coffee and we decided to go to La Molienda.
We sat in a cozy corner of the café and ordered two coffees, Aly's was an Americano and mine was a cappuccino. The aroma wafting from the cup was simply intoxicating, and the first sip was an explosion of flavor on my palate. The coffee flavor is quite intense at La Molienda, we liked that a lot, unfortunately we could not make conversation about the type of beans they use, because the attention is not as good as their coffee. The truth is that there are several things that I disliked about La Molienda, for example, the place is extremely small and the chairs are very uncomfortable, they do not invite you to stay for a second cup and this is very negative, because Aly and I enjoy a good conversation while we drink our coffee and sometimes we ask for two or three more cups to accompany our long conversations. And at La Molienda I didn't feel that welcome. Besides, I disliked the fact that they served our coffees in waxed cardboard cups, as I prefer to drink my coffee in a cup.
I definitely liked their coffee, the intensity and particularity of the beans. The only thing I would recommend is to order the coffee to go and drink it in a more comfortable place. But it was a great experience, I always enjoy visiting a different and new coffee shop for me. Since I am perfecting my appreciation for coffee and venturing to know the diversity of coffee and preparations that the beautiful city of San Cristobal offers.
As I said before, the area where I live is quite hot and the high temperatures always invite us to drink coffee, at home we drink about 3 liters a day. But these days in the city, feeling the cold of the end of the year, we went from one coffee shop to another, looking for that warmth and harmony that coffee gives us. So, in my case, it doesn't matter the temperature or the season of the year, because any is a good excuse to drink coffee.
