The perfect routine includes a cup of coffee.

Loving greetings to all my Hive friends, especially coffee lovers. It's a pleasure to be around once again is this beautiful incisive. And especially for this week's theme which is quite fun for me, as you will notice that my morning routine is not so morning. But it's still filled with lots of coffee and wellness.

I love that within the language of the community the expression “Ritual” is already included, because it is undoubtedly one of my favorite words when referring to my relationship with coffee. In my house, we have several years in which it has been difficult for us to get up early. Unless we have an important responsibility in the morning, our wake up time is in the middle of the day or even in the afternoon. On the hottest days we may wake up bathed in sweat, despite having air conditioning, but that does not affect our desire to prepare a delicious cup of hot coffee to start our daily dynamics.

There are several reasons why we run to prepare our steaming coffee as soon as we get out of bed. The first one is that my dear @aly.squid suffers from a terrible headache if she doesn't start her day with a good cup of coffee. The second is that with the electrical problems or to access cooking gas that Venezuela had, we suffered long seasons in which without having gas for the kitchen we could only cook with electrical appliances, but when the recurring power cuts started, then we were left with no options for cooking. One of the alternatives at those times was to cook with wood stoves, but that was quite exhausting. So when I woke up and realized that there was electric service, I would run to make coffee so I wouldn't have to use the stove.

With all that, we got into the habit of stopping to prepare the coffee, almost running, with a strange fear that the electric service would fail, even though nowadays failures are not so frequent and cooking gas is easier to get.

So when I open my eyes, the first thing I do is run to the kitchen to brew coffee, no matter what time I wake up. Then I do the other key things like go to the bathroom, brush my teeth or get cleaned up. The number 1 activity is always brewing coffee. This routine that was born out of circumstantial urgency has been very beneficial for us and for maintaining our passion for coffee.

Of course the first cup of the day comes before any food, the only thing we eat before coffee is a nice glass of cool water, because as I mentioned our community is very hot. Then we sit down to talk and enjoy a big cup of coffee, and then we set out to start our day. We can't imagine any other way to start each morning than this. In fact, the days when we have to work early and have to leave in a bit of a rush are not so exciting. We love mornings together sharing our coffee.

In short, our morning routine is more in the afternoon. But equally we do not have a schedule for drinking coffee, in fact we drink it all day long, Aly more than me, but I also enjoy it to the fullest. I love to talk about these things because although they seem small, they are part of these micro experiences that mark a coffee identity and consumption in each one of us.

I remember that the first publication that I made in this community was about a coffee with roasting, I made it with firewood and I shared that it was one of the ways in which coffee was prepared in a traditional way in our state of Táchira in Venezuela. In those days, we had to use the firewood stove to enjoy a good coffee and I took the opportunity to share with you, something that besides being an Andean tradition, was also part of my routines at that time.

Now everything is calmer and friendlier, I hope to continue enjoying the sweetness of hot coffee every morning, with my favorite person and the wonderful things that life offers me in every awakening. But everything is always better with a cup of coffee in hand.

I hope you enjoyed joining me in this post. I leave you a hug and I say goodbye until soon.

Thanks to you for always visiting me and commenting. A big hug

I certainly can relate to making coffee rapidly before the power goes out. This happened often in the Philippines, and when the electricity went, so did the water too.

It's nice to know that despite your waking up hour, that coffee is still a part of your ritual:)

Thank you for sharing such a detailed story with this week's prompt:)
