Greetings!
Waking up around 5:45 a.m. on Christmas morning, the only thing that came to my mind was to act totally different from my usual rituals on Christmas Day. This time, I decided to take a cup of coffee, which I had never done before on Christmas Day. For me, Christmas mornings usually start with solid food and end with solid food when my stomach and body are completely satisfied.
I didn’t have any sachets of coffee at home because I usually buy them from the shop close to me whenever I want coffee. So, I had to wait until daybreak, when shops had started opening. Unfortunately for me, it was Christmas Day, and ever since the woman who owns the shop nearby gave birth, she and her children no longer come early. I waited until around 7:40 a.m. before deciding to walk to a store farther away to get the coffee, as there was no sign of the woman arriving.
Meanwhile, I had already dressed for church with only a few minutes left until church time(8:00am).
I came back with the sachet of Nescafé, boiled water quickly, and made the coffee. I drank it in a rushed manner and hurriedly left for church. Because of the limited time I had, I didn’t get to enjoy the coffee as much as I wanted...with my spoon scooping it gradually while I sit and cross my legs on the table. However, there was no problem at all—I felt fulfilled for satisfying my desire to have coffee on Christmas morning.
I must say, it feels so good. As I type this, I am at church(few minutes to kick off), and my body feels so light—a total opposite of how heavy one feels after eating early in the day. This is actually my first time in a very long while taking anything before going to church, whether tea, coffee, or solid food.
On church days, I usually avoid eating beforehand because I feel my body becomes heavy afterward. Besides that, I grew up with a funny belief that eating before going to church weakens the spirit. Lol. You can’t blame me—I groomed myself in a very "churchy" way, and even now that I’m more mature, some of those beliefs are somewhat hard to let go.
Once again, Merry Christmas to everyone celebrating. Make sure you have fun!
