Hey, coffee friends!
I've come to #spillthebeans one more time, last of the year, and I'm taking the opportunity to wish a loveliest New Yaer's Eve and Happy New Year to all my coffee and Hive friends in general, to all those who are reading this post and also to those who are not ☕❤️ Best wishes for the year ahead!
I haven't considered quitting coffee, ever. It's just too hard, and more when everybody is constantly associating you to coffee. I'm always receiving coffee as a gift, and also coffee related items. Christmas is not an exception to this "natural," "organic" rule in my life. Then the last prompt sounded ideal for this last post of the year ☕
I'm not a ritual person, but I do have a few simple and pleasant habits for vacation times. Some of them happen all year long, like sharing a moment of coffee and peaceful solitude with my furry companions.
What is about?
Well, I make my own ham bread and like to have it for breakfast
Having hallacas in the fridge, fruit on the counter and sourdough panetonne and ham btread in the pantry makes things easier for me. I have them for breakfast and lunch while I take my time to bake and prepare what I'm going to bring to our holiday gatherings and dinners. You understand this better if you cook as much as me--or more than me--. You need to eat something without having to cook it because “the other cooking” takes up all your time if you mean to do it according to standards (delicious, plentiful, without leaving you broke 🤫).
Today I woke up a little late, tended to my kitties and made some of the coffee I got for Christmas. Breakfast was waiting for me: a slice of delicious homemade ham bread. I make a couple of large loaves for my family and a small one for me, which yields between 6 and 7 servings--and if it's not hot in the house, they'll keep perfectly well on the counter for up to a week--. Below you can see a slice of the one I made for myself, which has less bacon and more olives and cane honey than the ones I make for others. I only eat my slice with coffee. Rarely, very rarely, with a homemade vegetable milk latte.
The satisfaction of sitting down in peace to share with loved ones what you have made with your own hands: a delicious treat, a hot coffee with a dreamy aroma... is priceless. I don't know how my loved ones will remember me when I'm gone, but I think they may remember when they came to visit me and I offered them a slice of homemade ham bread to enjoy with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
