The cool city of Malang, which has been awarded the Adipura award for cleanliness, is fun to try, isn't it? Therefore, after this early check at the hotel I booked, I changed my clothes and was ready to join the car free day. Although usually my target is to run, this time, I just wanted to take a leisurely walk to enjoy the euphoria of Malang residents enjoying the car free day.
After almost an hour of walking around the Brawijaya area, I went to a coffee shop that I found on my way home. The coffee shop had been open since morning, and as I entered, the fragrant aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, and various types of pastries fresh out of the oven spoilt my sense of smell.
Without hesitation, I immediately ordered an iced americano and a nastar egg tart. I was actually a bit confused about which dessert to choose, because they all looked so good and premium. However, because I stood for a long time to choose, my choice finally fell on this nastar egg tart.
From the outside, the layers of pastry dough and the bright yellow colour of the egg tart topping look like the usual, right? However, when you start to bite into it, between the layers of pastry, there is a slightly fresh and sweet flavour. It's a combination of the flavour of pineapple jam, and chocolate chips. It really didn't make me feel sick to my stomach at all. In fact, I felt like I couldn't get enough of just one piece.
However, because I was about to eat, I had to be satisfied with one piece of egg tart from this OVENMUNI cafe.
The first impression when tasting Ovenmuni's iced amerikano is... the coffee flavour. It was roasted with dark roast level, so I could immediately feel the pait of coffee on my tongue, which was very good. After walking for five kilometres, I suddenly felt energised again after drinking the iced amerikano. If you remember, I really prefer the taste of coffee roasted with dark roast or extra dark roast level.
When the bitter taste invaded my taste buds, I felt an indescribable sensation of happiness.
Punctuated with a legit egg tart? Wow... what a perfect combo. This Ovenmuni cafe is like a tiny cafe whose door is a secret door that channels visitors to a beautiful garden of happiness. Hahaha...
Besides coffee and egg tart, there are many other dessert variants, such as: cheese burn, or strawberry shortcake sold by the slice.
There is only one indoor room in this cafe. It's not much, but it's very inviting, and as long as I was in Sanna, there were a lot of customers, though most of them were take away, so there wasn't much of a queue. I chose a seat against the wall, probably because I'm very comfortable leaning against the wall. LOL
Aside from the barista table and the show case for their cakes, there is also a toilet at the back corner/. In addition, the floral ornaments on the table add to the sweetness of this mini cafe.
If you are visiting Malang and are near Kawi street, I highly recommend this cafe.
