A necessary introduction
Each cup of coffee that I try is a pretext or a reason to celebrate. That is why I celebrate a cup of coffee with my coworkers every day, I have toasted a cup of coffee for some important news or for the Day of Love with my wife. I have also had a cup of coffee to celebrate a birthday or in the middle of a party drinking beer, something they also know fascinates me.
However, today's publication is for another reason, although the protagonist that accompanies me is my accomplice, my friend, my girlfriend and my wife.
Pretext of today's toast
The pretext of today's toast is related to something that for my wife and me is bad news: we had run out of coffee and yesterday we didn't have any. For this reason, when I came down from work for the International Book Fair in Havana, Cuba, which is taking place these days, I had the need or obligation to buy a packet of coffee.
The previous task would be somewhat complicated, given the situation we have with this and other products in the country and also because of the high prices they have in the formal and informal market.
In search of the beloved coffee
After leaving the fair I went to several state and private establishments, but in some of these places there was no coffee and in others the prices did not allow me to buy it. At each encounter of some establishment and before the refusal or impossibility of buying the longed for beverage the uncertainty grew because I got closer to the house, it was after 3 o'clock in the afternoon and if I did not arrive with coffee one of the traditions of my wife and me would be broken, which is to have a cup of coffee in the afternoons, to talk, to know how the day went, to plan the dinner that we will taste, among other concerns and problems of daily life.
When I was about to lose hope, I went into a small store near the house to have a beer and there was a package of coffee, but I did not know or had never heard of that type of coffee. The name of the coffee was known because even the Venezuelan musician Oscar de Leon has a song called Morena.
A new brand of coffee comes into my life
While I was drinking my beer, I asked the owner about the quality and price of Morena coffee. He told me that it was worth a thousand pesos and that he didn't think it was bad. So I bought the coffee (I had no other option) and arrived home with a new coffee: Café MORENA.
Trying a new brand of coffee
As soon as I arrived home my wife was waiting for the result of the transaction and when she saw the package of coffee she was amazed.
I immediately prepared the coffee and we sat down to enjoy our daily afternoon ritual. I must tell you that it is not the best coffee I have ever had, nor the worst. It is a coffee with a smooth texture that, for those who like strong coffee, should be quite strong.
Anyway, the cup of coffee served us to share that intimate, unique and romantic moment that has united us for 26 years.
