Yesterday was a little flop day. We had a plan to visit Lake Como, when we reached Milan Central Station, we go to know that there was some issue and all the trains for the day were cancelled. The station was quite chaotic as some other routes were also cancelled and lot of people were waiting for cancellation of their tickets. We did not cancel our ticket as we were informed that we could use it the next day. Today we are planning to visit Lake Como. From what I have seen in the pictures, it is a very beautiful place and must visit here in Italy.
Then, we were thinking what should we do for the rest of the day, because by the time we got sorted out with all the train issues it was already mid-day and we could not plan anything far away from the city. We decided to take the hop on hop off bus and explore Milan. Though this was not on our itinerary, but then it was no point going back to the hotel or roaming around without any clue. It turned out to be a good choice we made, as we got to see some places that we never knew off.
The Milan Central station in itself is one monument to see. Such beautiful architecture. It reflects the art that this place is famous for and all about.
It is quite a grand structure, reflects the city culture in it. Just from the outside no one would know if it's a station.
All through out in Milan there are many art structures that one will find. This one was right outside the Station
And this one as well
A pose to keep the memory of this place... :-)
Finally, after half an hour wait, the Hop on Hop off bus arrives and we get into it.
We started the journey from Milan Central station and the first Blue Line took us to Duomo. This is the most famous site in Milan, yesterday we visited the Cathedral. It is marvelous from inside and outside. I will share that sometime later. From there we took the yellow line which took us to Brera. It was a very lively place
I am very fascinated by this city. It is so different from what I have seen till date in any part of the world. The whole city is full of art, the buildings are so well organized and there is a lot of uniformity. What unique I found was all the buildings are joined to each other in a street. In India or Oman there is never such a thing. Every building is stand alone. It's a very well organized and well-planned city.
On the way some random clicks
And we arrived to Duomo. We changed the line here and then went to Brera.
The guide told us that this district is like the Montmartre street of Paris. But not really, It is quite different. There are lots of shopping stores but like Montmartre there are no street artist. But it is a good place to visit and spend time in leisure.
On the way
It was a bright sunny day and I was feeling exhausted by then. At Brera we took a break and had our lunch, it was almost 5 p.m. After that we strolled around the place and then returned back to our hotel calling it off for the day.
A Lindt Chocolate shop. It is my hubby's favorite so we had to stop here and do some shopping :-)
After resting well last night, today morning we left early for our day trip to Lake Como and now on the way.
