Over the weekend we made a visit to this small town Rustaq. We did not go into the town, but we went to the wadi. A Wadi is basically a valley. In Oman there are some low line areas where water gets collected if it rains, these places are also called wadi. We were looking out for places to explore and we came across this one, where the reviews were good and also there was a mention that it has hot water springs in this place. That was the main reason for us to select this place.
At the start of our journey it showed us one and a half hour drive to reach to the hot water springs. But when we reached, there was no sight of hot water springs and we kept going inside further. We happened to meet one another couple who was also on a adventure trip, they mentioned that the hot water springs is very far an hour more to reach. It was almost sunset time, so then we had to call off. There was no mention in the reviews about this surprise that we received. It was a little disappointing, but then we did have a very good time just exploring this valley.
Since I was all set to get into the hot water springs, my footwear was also as per that, but then this whole region was so rustic, that it was difficult to walk through on chappals and we had to just make a short trek and return back again. Whatever we did was still amazing. The weather was excellent, and there were palm trees all around the place, giving a very good shade and a cool feeling.
As we reach our destination. We were in a big group with 3 cars, beyond this point the vehicles would not go so from here on it was by foot.
There were small fields that we found on the way
The walk way was very uneven and it had rocks and stones all over, so we had to navigate carefully.
Walking up my way
The walkway path is very narrow, there is another path also, but that was extremely uneven so this was the preferred one. There are markings all over on the path, so we kept following them and moving ahead. It was good to have these markings else in return would have been difficult. We could have probably lost our way.
I love this rustic feeling and these gorgeous views around, feeling so close to nature.
There is wild Aloe vera plants growing in this place. I wanted to take a few but had nothing to cut it.
There was a water stream running parallelly all through out our way and that assured us that there was a water fall somewhere close by, but that close by was another 1 hour walk and it was not the right time and also not the right footwear to move ahead on the path.
We managed to trek around 45 mins one way and then returned back. Our mission was not accomplished but I was still happy because this was also not expected and it was a pleasant surprise.
