Ah, the summer of 2021—when we were all cautiously optimistic, feeling like we were finally on the other side of the pandemic, but still holding onto the simple joys that got us through the lockdowns. With companies teasing the idea of calling us back to the office (cue the collective groan), we knew we had to squeeze every drop of freedom out of those remaining work-from-home days.
The game plan? More walks, more sunsets, more indulgence.
First, let’s talk about those evening strolls by the canal. There’s something about the misty calm of water reflecting a soft sunset that just hits differently when you know your days of full-time home office are numbered. It’s like nature was reminding us to slow down and take it all in, before we were back to the hustle and bustle of commuting.
Of course, no good day is complete without a little culinary delight. Cue the plate of deliciousness—because when you’re about to lose your WFH kitchen privileges, you make the most of it. And whether it was cooking up something special or treating yourself to a dessert that’s way too good to be shared, food became a form of self-care.
And then there’s the pure joy of watching butterflies dance among the flowers, and cornfields bathed in the golden light of a setting sun. Those were the moments that made the uncertainty of the future seem a little less daunting.
So, here’s to the last few days of full-blown freedom, before the office lights flickered back on. We made the most of it, didn’t we? Enjoy this throwback to a time when the sunsets were a little sweeter, the food a little richer, and the simple things meant everything.
