Black & White Photography : Beautiful, historic building in Pretoria, South Africa

in #hive-1533493 months ago

Ou – Raadsal is one out of many historical buildings surrounding the Church Square in Pretoria, South Africa. This building once served as a governmental building / parliament for the government of the South African Republic during the years between 1891 and 1902. In 1902 the Second Boer War resulted in Britain annexing the republic. The architect behind it describes the architectural style as Italian Renaissance. The statue of a woman on the main tower is believed to be the Roman Goddess of War – Minerva.

Many forget the historical buildings around South Africa, one of interest with Motto: Eendragt maakt magt ('Unity makes strength') something all striving for yet not finding.

I really enjoyed Pretoria's Church Square, but wished I had the opportunity to stay a little longer🙂

Some really amazing old architecture in most of our cities, perhaps in the future it will be safer to travel and explore on foot again.
