Euphorbia pulcherrima

This colorful flower, known in Venezuela as Flor de Navidad and similar names in Latin America, owes its scientific name to the fact that it is part of the plant family Euphorbia, whose sap contains latex and pulcherrima which means the "most beautiful". That is, it is the most beautiful of the plants that contain latex in its sap, did you know that? I found out while I was researching to add information to the photo.

This plant is of Mexican origin, and the Franciscan monks used it to decorate the altars during the Easter season and that is the reason for its popular name (Martínez, 2019).

I took this picture last December in the walkway that goes from the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel to the City Walk in Orlando Florida. I also share with you another photo where my beautiful son appears, but in this case you can see the plants with apparent red flowers and others with green flowers. But I tell you that these are not flowers, but bracts. These are modified leaves that actually protect very small flowers. For these leaves to turn red, they have to spend several months with most of the daylight hours in the dark, so it takes a process, isn't it interesting?

Awesome entry, thanks a lot!

These beautiful tulips originated from Kazakhstan, and was exhibited in the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore a few months ago.

I love flowers not only those we have at home but those we find while we walk around... a pleasure for our eyes in any corner, street or even here in a bridge. The bridge of the flowers in Valencia, Spain.

This is a photo taken with my iPhone. March 2019 when I lived a year on the tiny Island of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea.
I remember that time well… We had family visiting us for the first time in Malta. We were showing them around in the car and suddenly we drove past by a large field full of red poppies. I asked to stop, I just had to walk out and into the field to capture the flowers in the bright sunlight.
That week also the world closed off because the virus became a pandemic. This caused our family to go home earlier and since that week we haven’t seen any family… in this time we moved a few times plus a country move during the pandemic.
Hope soon we can freely travel again ✈️ And see friends and family. It can be hard living as expats far away from friends and family especially now.

Oh, so cute, a poppy field...

I think we all see already the light at the end of the covid tunnel :)

🌺 And, how beautiful nature is, when its time to bloom comes. My dream is to have flowers all year round.

📸 To participate in this week's theme, I share an image of the first flowers of my Passionaria plant. It is the vine type and I bought it at the nursery. It is a tropical species, but it is doing very well in my patio, next to the barred window. Its stems extend some curls and it clings to other plants and supports.

🍵 The native peoples already knew that its flowers are used to prepare an especially relaxing (and amazing) infusion for the senses. If a psychedelic tea is too strong to start the day, we can always delight in cautiously contemplating its passionate flowers of calm fire.

hahaha excellent information and impressive flower. I had never seen it before 😱!

😄 How wonderful right? Exotic plants are captivating with their exuberant colors and shapes. But, I am also always amazed at the number of uses even the most common herbs have. Either to apply on the skin, to relieve the stomach or to take care of the hair. I always like to learn about plants. They are quiet but very communicative.

If it is surprising everything we use that we can buy in a store, for health or our care have their basis in the wonderful nature. It never ceases to amaze us.

Thank you for this awesome entry! :)

Wow how wonderful! I feel great for having participated and received an honorable mention! 😆😆

Perfect wherever you look at it, we have the chance to share a photo, reminisce about moments, learn from the pictures everyone else takes, and read short but evocative stories. As we happily network, and thrive to grow together, earning crypto and socializing abundance. Every week is definitely better. May this cool community continue to grow. Thank you very much I love you all! 🥰

Special thanks to @travelcontest for the prizes. And congratulations to @soulsdetour and @shohana1.
I must say that @littlebee4's photography manages to make me fall in love with its romantic summer atmosphere with its pink tones. And that parked bicycle invites you to break the tranquility with an adventure. Congratulations! Thank you for making me travel. 🥳

Hi @bardobrujo 😊 you are so welcome.
That is nice to hear. I’m glad I could let you travel just for a moment into romantic summer atmospheres and far away places.
Thank you so much 🤗

It is indeed growing this community, and that we can interact more and more with each other is just special. Looking forward to many more interactions and seeing wonderful photographs.

Great to read these, thanks a lot!

Have some !PIZZA :)
