The parliament of the autonomous region of Andalusia, the southernmost region of the Iberian Peninsula, is located in the former Hospital de las Cinco Llagas in Seville, a Renaissance building whose most monumental part is the old church, where the sessions of the Andalusian parliament are held. The hospital as such was completed in 1558 and was operational until 1972, while the complete renovation of the entire complex was completed in 2003.
The photograph was commissioned by a publishing house for the publication of a book about the city of Seville.
