The right to speech is what we all need when it comes to a nation. In a nation that wants to build a strong relationship between the citizens and the leaders, the only thing that can unite them all is the right to speak what is in one's mind.

A nation that deprives the citizens of airing their views is not called a nation but a failure. In a real sense, the only government I have seen so far that does not support freedom of speech is the military government. Nigeria has operated this type of government for so long, but the benefit was not told to the government as they have been in total failure.
Comparing the past to the present, I learned that even when the right to speak was reduced, it was so much better than now that we have the right to speak, but little.
We can only speak a little from what is happening, or else the result would be the case.
Feeding of speech was supposed to be the greatest thing that would favour the government these days, but instead, they have paid a deaf ear to the erring of the citizens, thinking that their words would be final. The fact remains that there is no nation without the citizens in it, and no nation without a leader. We all need leaders in both areas that can lead us right and to the right, but not the ones that can make things tough.
If asked, is this present government in the favor of the general populace? I'm sure so many people would say “no.”. This would be my answer because they have nothing to do with the general populace but with their pockets. They are all thinking of how they can make their pockets robust, forgetting the matters that concern the citizens.
No one is ready to speak the truth any more, as the truth is now becoming just like a rotten egg. The truth is always bitter, but when you say it, you will not live to see the next day. The government of today, which we call civilian rule, is just like military rule. Even military rule has more time for the citizens than civilian rule.
During the protest, the masses were against the bad government, but that same government came out to stop the masses from protesting. To be sincere, they were all speaking their minds, but later turned out to be idiots in the sight of the government. This means the freedom to speak is not limited to the government but to the masses (citizens). I don't know when the citizens would have the mind to speak up, and they would be listened to. I still don't get the fact that we are not allowed to speak what is bordering us. Is it that we live in the military regime or the civilian regime? This is just a question that kept bothering me, but the result is not what I think it should be. Even most citizens, when asked, preferred the military to civilian rule. The reason is not far-fetched. We are not being ruled properly when compared to military rule.
To be candid, our views are no longer useful. Anything the government says is final. We are being stopped from speaking our minds and views. The ones who call themselves leaders are the ones to make decisions, and we are to abide by them without complaining.
