One thing about these ingrate people is that they are the closest ones to you, who you never expected to disappoint you. One thing about people that pay back favour with evil is that they will never be satisfied with whatever you give them while some will never appreciate your help but they would still want more from you.
There is a friend of mine who I adore dearly. Due to the way we interact with each other regularly, a few residents do believe that we are family. Because we are not from the same place and cannot be the same, he has done a lot of things that I have felt awful about but have let go of.
Sometimes he would borrow a little cash without returning it but I always let it go because I like him so much.
But there was a time he had a problem with his work and all I could do for him was to help him with the project money that was saved in my account so that he could get back on his feet and then return the money before the company asked for it.
He promised to pay back after two months when his business has yielded and of course, I believe him because we have been friends for a long time. Unknowing to me that he didn't use the money for what he told me he was going to use it for. He lavished the money and squandered it on bets.
One thing about betting is that you will have this false hope that you will win someday until you are empty.
He didn't do business and there was no way he could pay back my money at the stipulated time. Whenever I called him he wouldn't pick up my call.
At first, I thought he was busy until I went to his place and found out that he was at home but he was avoiding me because of the money that he had no idea how to pay back. It was a terrible experience for me because I trusted him too much to have given him the money that was kept in my account for a project.
I almost got into a problem with that money because it wasn't long before the company asked for it but I was favoured by my family and I paid the money.
Lesson Learned
The experience made my eyes clear because when I like someone there is nothing I won't do for the person and this my friend made me understand that not everyone can be trusted. He helped me realize that I shouldn't lend somebody money that I couldn't let go, and ever since then, I have avoided doing things that are beyond my capacity. Instead, if I want to help someone, I do so within the bounds of what I can forgo in the case that they don't repay me.
Since that day, the guy has stopped being my friend because he never returns my calls, hides whenever I visit his neighbourhood and has blocked me on all of his social media accounts.
I decided to let him go and I moved on since I had paid the money and meanwhile, I had spent more than that after what he had done to me. I later realized that some individuals are just like that; they will repay a favour with evil.
