Respect is reciprocal is what I do hear but such things aren't relevant anymore because people no longer find respect as a good virtue. Some people believe that everyone has the right to do whatever they want when they want, and how they want it, people no longer respect one another.
I believe everyone should respect each other, I value respect so much. You can do any other thing to me, but if you disrespect me or anyone around me, I won't be happy about it.
I have experienced a lot of disrespectful acts from a lot of people and this always cut the ties between us
In my area, there are lots of young boys who are into illegal stuff and they are making huge money. These guys don't see any reason to respect people that are older than them because they feel like they have money and money makes them older than everyone around them.
A Recent Case Of Disrespect
One day I went to the supermarket close to my area. I wanted to get groceries while I was looking for what to buy. One small girl insulted an elderly woman who was old enough to be her mother. It happens that she picked one particular perfume which happens to be the last one on the shelf in the store.
I don't know what the small girl went to take outside of the supermarket but she came back with her boyfriend and before she got back to where the perfume was, the old woman had picked it up. The girl called the woman back and told her to return the perfume which the woman felt bad because she didn't collect it from her.
Before the Old woman said anything, the young girl started insulting her and used her to compare so many things, while the old woman didn't say anything. I was watching what the boyfriend would say but I wasn't surprised that he supported his girlfriend.
People in the supermarket were reacting to the case, while I was busy looking at how disrespectful they were, you see one thing about life is that you can't sow a groundnut and expect to harvest cucumber, what they did to the old woman was so embarrassing, and am sure they will get it back later on probably in the future.
This generation no longer finds respect as something important, they just live life the way they see it, forgetting that life is complex.
On their way out, I called both of them and I told them that they should have some respect and be humble. I went on to describe how they would feel if they witnessed someone making such an insult to their mother.
They replied that they would fight with that person, so I said have you seen that you have done a bad thing.
They agreed to my statement and went back to the woman and apologized. The woman accepted their apology. A lot of young guys out there have found themselves in a big problem because of their disrespectful acts.
In conclusion, once I notice that you lack respect, I can't be your friend. Respect and humility have gotten me a lot of business connections in the past and I'm still building on the legacy.
