Life is not balance as they say. I know that the reason why people say that is because sometimes what you expect is not what you get at the end of the day. I'm life we learn and unlearn everyday. When you mingle with people of different races, different culture and different mindset, you will see everyone behaving differently from each other. Sometimes you see a rich man acting as though he is very poor, and in another place you will see a poor person who never allow his poor situation to affect him acting as though all is well with him. This is the irony of life. Having a different thing in mind and seeing a different result in real life.
I guess I have experience situation like this when I expected more from someone I believe is doing well financial and got disappointed at the end and vise versa.
For the purpose of this week 149 edition 2, I will love to share a story of what happened to my father in-law years back. My father-in-law told us a story of how he visited a well known wealthy man in their village because they were child hood friends. When the man came out to receive them, he was very happy because he knows that there is going to be plenty food and drinks. He was actually expecting much from him and he sat down with his wife waiting to be served by the family of the man he visited. After a short while something was served in the dinner and they were all asked to go and eat. They stood up with all happiness expecting to see delicious meal in the dinner. After prayers they finally opened the plate only to see the same kind of food that he left at home thinking that he will come and eat good food here. The man served them cocoyam and red oil. Hahaha 😂. My father in-law could not believe his eyes. What! Why should this wealthy man give us ordinary cocoyam and red oil? He refused to eat pretending to be okay. It was when they came out of the house that he started gusting with his wife that he refused to eat cocoyam at home because he was expecting something better only to come and see the same cocoyam again here. He said that it is better he goes back home and eat his own cocoyam and red oil. He was so disappointed that he went home very angry at his friend. That was how he stopped visiting that his child hood friend.
Another one is what happened to me in person some months back. Last year October when I signed out of school and organized a little party at home with friends just to celebrate that victory. Alot of my friends came and some of them brought me special gift. Some actually brought what they can afford, but there is this man that I never expected that he will do what he did. After the prayers and I asked everyone to sir down and take some refreshments before going. They all did and food was served. When they started living one of the brothers in our church came close to me and handed over what I never saw coming. He handed over to me an expensive wrapper. This is a man I have always wanted to help because I have seen them struggling financially. But he surprised me. Instead of me helping him he was the man that came to give me a special gift for my graduation. I felt so ashamed when he did that. I collected it because I can't reject his gift of love.
That is the very reason why the Holy book admonishes us not to put our trust in man because man will definitely disappoint us. All our hope should be on God because he knows where he will send his help from. The poor or the rich. All are instruments in the ✋ hands of the Almighty.
