Given from the heart is what will attract God's blessings upon the giver. Any giver who does not give from the heart, but just puts the show up to gain fame and popularity has not blessings from God. This is the angle where I will be looking at the topic of our discussion from.
In this edition 1 of week 126, I will be using my own self as a case study for what we are discussing. When I saw the topic it helps me to start praying for myself knowing very well that even if you think that you are standing, you may still fall if you did not watch it. Helping the poor and the needy in the society is a very good gesture only when it is done with a good motive.
I have seen people who do that alot and some of them it may not really be from the wrong motives. We have people in the society who do have others alot and no one knows about what they have done. We also have people who help others but go around and tell others about the good thing that they have done. That is where we have the problem. When we help, what is it that we plan to achieve in helping others? I believe that this is the right question for me to ask myself.
Looking at it from what I do sometimes, I will say that I don't have any bad motive for what I do, though I still bring it out to the public, but for the good reasons. I have been organizing get together for widows for the last two years and when I finish I still use it to make a post here. Why?
I do that because it is #hive that gave me the motivation in the first place to start a gathering like that for the widows. When I started hiving two years ago I promise myself that from whatsoever little I make from hive I will use some to help some widows who I see around me every day struggling to feed their families. I also consider using it to make a post so as to raise more money for the next project. I am not in any way looking for followers or popularity in any way as I do that. because of this the post I have used our activities to make I have been able to make more money for the widows and that has satisfied what I want to do to an extent. So, for me the case is not to make it known for show, but to generate more money for them.
Conclusively, I believe that when we are doing any charity work, it should be for the purpose of helping them and not for name making. Though the name will come uninvited because when people begin to hear about it they will definitely give you the name that they want. Not just my believe but what God wants us to do for his name sake.
