Looking at the topic itself is another war going on in my heart. The question of who to censor what we and our children watch and consume at home on daily basis is a very big issue. I believe that those who have children at home especially the teenagers will understand very well where this topic is pointing to. But if you are just a young man or woman you may not have much issues here, unless you still see yourself struggling with some of these things when you see them.
I believe that to some extent the owners of the platform should have a say concerning what is been display for the public to watch. But the first question that should come to mind is - who are the owners? What do they believe in? What is their philosophy about life and how it should be lived? All of these needs to be put in place. Because if they don't believe that such content has the capacity to destroy our younger generation, then they will not have any problem with restricting it in their platform. That is where it starts from. What is the platform meant for? Do they believe that when nudity is displayed in their platform, is harmful? Maybe that is also why when you come to some platform you will get to see all manners of rubbish been displayed for people to see. It is very annoying most times.
Secondly, I also believe that we as parents can contribute immensely to what we allow our children watch online. We may not have the final say because the young growing children have a say in what he or she wants to do. We can try by stopping them from watching those things online that can destroy their lives. But how far can we go? That is the question. We all not always there with them. If we stop them from watching at home, they can still watch it in the neighbors house, when they visit a friend or even when we are not at home. All of these factors make it look impossible for us to stop them from watching those corrupt things. What then can we do?
I will love to use what I do that have been very helpful to the kids. I make sure that I plant in them God's word at any given moment. I also try to bring out those issues concerning what is online and we discuss about it. I use it when teaching them and I allow them to bring out what they see in those things online that is not good. After such discussion, they will receive help that even if I am not there nothing of such will have negative influence over their lives. This has really helped my family alot. Most times I will hear my children discussing about the movie that was shown last night and how they noticed something very bad in the movie and they changed the channel because it is not good for their well being.
