Growing up ehh, it was like an unspoken rule in the house, that when its time to eat we all eat at the dining table.
Back then, we were even more than the number of seats in the dinning room, but we all still stayed in that space to eat.
If you didn’t get a chair, you can as well sit on the floor and eat. We are not one kind of rich family, soo seating on the floor was not abnormal or weird to us.
I think, in my own opinion, all of us stayimg together in one place to eat also helped build the closeness we have with each other now, because, as much as we didn’t usually see each other, ( with every one going to boarding school during our secondary school days).
When each person came back from school for the holidays, either mid- term or the long holdays, the gathering in the dining room was always a form of reminder “never forget your root or your humble beginnings”. It was a kind of lesson to never be proud in this life.
At some point though, as we all started growing older, like entering into the university, the older ones started taking their foods inside their rooms to eat.
It didn’t feel any different to us at that point because even when they did that, we had already built the close bonds when we were younger, soo taking their food into their rooms wasn’t a big deal at all 🤗.
Now though, with everyone being graduates, we don’t even necessarily eat at the same time anymore.
Like we are not usually hungry at the same time 😆 and most of my siblings have moved out to their own homes and some have travelled to different countires sooo eating dynamics are not the same anymore 😁.
It’s still fine though, we all still love each other and banter with each other as a family 😂
In the near future, when I will be happily married and ready to give birth to as many children as I want (I mean we are six in the family 😆🫣), I would also apply the same method of everyone eating at the dining table 😊
Thank you for your time and patience
Till next time lovely people of this community and space ☺️🙃
