As the use of smartphones has increased so is the need of creating user friendly interface on the small devices. Visiting a website on computer’s and laptop's screens is often an entirely a different experience than visiting the same site through a smartphone's browser. Perhaps, it is one of the reasons for causing the surge of new apps providing services already accessible through websites.
Moreover, the increasing use of online services has created a need and opened up a path for production of an array of new apps. Nowadays, we have apps for literally everything - chatting, socializing, virtual meetings, streaming, entertainment, shopping, banking, food delivery, language learning, exercising, wellness, and you name it.
Furthermore, the apps often simplify the navigation. Just one click on the relevant icon and you are ready to dive into the realm of your required service in an appealing and seamless manner.
Nevertheless, not all the apps provide similar level of seamless experience to its users. Neither, every app is meant to be beneficial for the consumers. Some are merely designed for scamming purposes. Others may have interrupting bugs or an annoying quantity of advertisements.
Additionally, every app is not equally beneficial for everyone. The usefulness of an app varies from person to person, depending on individual needs. An excellently designed app serving its supposed purpose flawlessly may be extremely useful for one costumer but not for an other.
For instance, a couple of days ago, I downloaded an app for English conversation improvement. Despite the fact that the reviews and ratings for the app were quite attractive I didn’t found it much effective for my needs. Consequently, I deleted it promptly.
In the past, I have also deleted other apps from my device, even those popular with thousands of users. For instance, I installed Telegram as a need for communication with my fellow bloggers on another blogging platform. When the platform died I uninstalled Telegram too, as there was no longer a need; and it was merely causing distraction through its crypto mining groups and advertisements.
Similarly, once Facebook Messenger was installed in my device. I deleted it because it was serving me no purpose, as the use of Facebook proved to be highly depressing for me.
Likewise, I once installed Grammarly, but it only caused me annoyance so I deleted it right away. Actually, I had previously used Grammarly through my laptop. The experience on the site was helpful, but when I tried using the service on mobile's browser it asked to install the app. As a result I got an application that didn’t meet my expectations. So the obvious response was to get rid of it.
In the same way, I got rid of Pi Mining App as soon as I realized of its uselessness.
Interestingly, I have never installed several famous socializing apps like TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram etc. So there was no need to uninstall them. I am allergic to the traditional social media. 😉Happy to be on Hive 🥰.
Despite my tendency to quickly uninstall the apps, my mobile still has some pre installed apps that I rarely use. There are certain apps the purpose of which is unknown to me, but they are there as a built-in applications for the device. These include Samsung Apps and Google Meet App. Truly speaking, I am not sure if they can be deleted or not. I seldom play with the software, especially the one available in the device at the time of its arrival.
There are certain other apps that I installed for specific purposes but no longer use them regularly. These apps include:
GIPHY: I installed it for adding gifs to my blog because giphy.com on mobile's browser was not friendly. Nevertheless, the app is sluggish, at least on my device. I don’t have that much time to keep on searching for the apt gifs for hours. Moreover, I have limited time for blogging so I prefer spending it on writing than on imagery.
Meme Generator : The purpose for installing this app was also Hive. I wanted to create memes for one of my posts so I needed it. I haven’t used it in a long time since then. Nevertheless, I have certain ideas for memes, so I may use the app in the future. LOLZ. If I get rid of procrastination some day. 😁
Viva video and A Z Screen Recorder : These are the other two apps that I have used only once in a blue moon for creating videos for my blogs (vlogs). Though I don’t use them often but they are not completely useless for me. I may need them in the future.
Besides, taking a sneak peak of useless Apps in my mobile for answering the Hive Learner’s current contest (hl-w132e1), I realized that there are some apps that were either not installed by me or I only installed them for fulfilling some specific duties at hand. They include some gaming apps, google sheets and dictionary. I haven’t deleted them yet, but I am sure I will do it soon, as I find no reason for keeping them with me.
I believe minimalism makes it easier to organize and access things in all the spaces of our lives. That’s why I strive to maintain a minimalist approach to keep apps in my device. What about you?
